Top 5 reasons why I hate MySpace

I have been switching a lot of things these days, from Windows to OS X to name one, but recently I did something I thought I would never do, leave MySpace for Facebook. I have been on MySpace for over two years now and I saw it grow from a few million people to everyone who can read and write having a personal page. While this doesn’t bother me too much there are a few things that aggravated me enough to switch from the social network
Ladies and gentleman, here goes my first top 5 list a few weeks.
5. Advertisements - While ads don’t bother me too much the ones on MySpace are getting ridiculous. I hate how the home page is flooded with ads every where! Now I cant say I hate them, because thats how I get paid, but there are tasteful ways of doing this.
4. Bad server, bad! Ever try to log in to MySpace around 8 pm? It’s damn near impossible with millions of twelve-year-old girls logged on talking to their BFF Jill or their online boyfriend, which leads me to my next point.
3. Twelve-year-old girls trying to add me - Nothing is more special than waking up to a friend request from somebody named RAWRgirl from New Jersey who dresses like she is 20, really is 12, talks like she is 25, and writes that she is 18. I swear I could make a scrap book out of these friend requests.
2. The new hip band trying to add me, every day - Don’t you love to have some band from Texas with no talent trying to get you to listen to their new EP, which is only $5.00 on iTunes dude. While I have found a few decent bands like this, they are surely in the minority.
1. Somebody’s personal page - How many of you have seen a MySpace page with bad HTML and the song “Crazy Bitch” from Buckcherry playing? I am sure everyone raised their hand. People go to Google type HTML MySpace and just paste it on their site and screw with everyone trying to visit it. I can’t tell you how many times I have had my Internet crash out because someone posted 1200 new pictures directly on their page. Oh, and a Last.FM player as well; by the way I love Last.FM.
Well this is my rant for the week, I now feel better. leave a comment, do you use MySpace? Facebook? Do you hate the same things I do?

Great post, I love it! Myspace is the abyss of the internet. All of these kids play with Myspace as a game or entertainment center.
They are not neat, and not respectful to the site and the people who use it. I will explain. Not neat, they screw around the whole layout, you can’t possibly understand were anything is at or what it says. Not respectful, just like you said about adding people you don’t know, they don’t realize that these little things can slowly frustrate many people. I am just so happy I don’t use Myspace or Facebook, sure takes away a lot of weight off of my back.

I never made a myspace because of all the story’s I hear about being hacked and having your identity stolen. It is an easy way to get hacked and get infected with viruses and other malicious programs if you are clicking on ads and popups.
They need to take out some of the junk such as popups and ads, I know ads help with money, but omg,if they are dangerouis, take them off.
I was never interested in myspace to begin with, I was not the kind of person to make a profile and share it with a bunch of creepers, and little kids.
These are my reasons for not liking nyspace and not getting one. I love your post by the way Chris.

I hate myspace I hate facebook, it’s shit, people think they are individuals they are not, they become part of a massive corporate con, I know loads of activists on both sites, do they not realise that the police mointer these sites, they are handing their details over on a plate.
Also I remember a time when I use to make friends with people at pubs, or partys or at college etc… No one really has 15,000 friends! Destroy LIEspace and FAKEbook:]

I thought I may be the only person with these thoughts on some of these social networks.
I don’t like the fact that they list how many friends someone has.
It is true, no one has 20 thousand real friends. LOL.
I have a difficult time listening to people’s music on myspace and I don’t enjoy spending time on it. I also don’t like how it looks compared to some other sites such as livejournal or blogger etc….
take care. M

I gotta say man… you did a good job on this blog, I barely ever read them but yours kept my interest. You pinned my 5 favorite annoyances on Myspace right on the donkeys ass. Figured I’d leave a comment. I use Myspace but have a face book as well even though I never use it..

5. All of my advertisements, banners pop-ups, even flash applications are blocked! Thank YOU firefox!
4. Maybe this is because your blog is a year old but the servers work fine for me!
3. Dude, it’s called privacy blocking. Check “Do not let users under 18 view my profile”. A WONDERFUL option.
2. Another technological advanced option “Block bands from requesting me as a friend”… Ohhh the options!
1. I can agree with you there - good thing all Browsers come with a ‘STOP’ or ‘BACK’ button!

I use Facebook, but all the people on my list are people I know in real life, and I barely get to talk to them in person, so I just chat on there.

I agree with cheyo,
Alot of people that do not like myspace but have never joined dont understand.
Oh yes! the pedophiles! the hacking! ive had myspace since i was 13, im 16 going on 17.
I havn’t had ONE person talking to me inapropriatly
who is over the age of 18 ever.
I have never been hacked.
i have never caught a ‘virus’ from myspace, fuck, i have a mac.
I have around 6000+ friends on myspace, for networking. i am an aspiring illustrator/artist and like to do self-portrait photography and editing, Its nice to share this with like minded people, and advertise my skills for the future.
I am a 9/11 truther, and heavily against elitism, nwo, grip of freemason banking families, and understand hole heartidly that myspace logs alot of things i say and do, however i’de rather discuss and spread knowledge to people on this medium, where people are more open to listen, it IS a great system for networking.
If you want a place to talk to friends and just people you know or have met in real life, then facebook.
I like that everyone doesnt bother you on myspace
and try and add you just because you’re mutual friends with someone or another.
Myspace for the win. Although i think youtube is the best place to meet people and talk to people you wouldnt usually meet in real life, you can really open your mind to different types of people and learn.
