iTunes Movie Rentals: Finally, Something Useful

As I have stated before I am not a fan of the whole Blu-ray vs HD DVD war thing that’s going on right now, I would just like to be able to watch all of the new movies in HD with 5.1 surround sound without having to buy more than one player to do the job. Up to now there hasn’t been many options other than the Vudu Box but that’s a little pricey, as the gracious company as they are Apple has solved my problem with the new iTunes Movie Rentals.
You can now download all of your favorite movies, from every major studio! even Sony is on board, as rentals for as low as $2.99(SD) or $3.99(HD) and you have 24 hours to watch that movie once you hit play, just like ordering a flick from your cable/satellite provider. You can still buy movies if you like but not every studio is on board and they are a little pricey, from $10 and up.
The downside?
If you want a HD movie you will have to use an Apple TV but this is no big deal seeing as it only cost $229, kind of a steal now. All Apple TVs will get a free firmware update that will allow you to buy or rent any movie from the iTunes store and you can now get all of your podcasts, music, and TV shows too.
You can best believe that I will be looking to add an Apple TV to my hardware collection and I will cannot wait to rent movies at a reasonable price. Thank you Apple you might of pissed me off with the iPod Touch update but you have blown me away with this.
