$20 For New iPod Touch Apps? No Thank You!

One of the perks to being an early buyer of most tech products is that you have the opportunity to get the new features when they become available, meaning that if you bought an old Zune like I did then I can, with an upgrade, you can do the same thing that the new ones can, makes sense right? Well apparently Apple didn’t get this memo because in order to get their newest updates for the iPod Touch you are going to have to fork out $20 for a few apps.

Why are they charging us this fee? I would love to know the answer to this, because it is just baffling to me. I upgraded my Touch to 1.1.3 today thinking that I would have all of the new apps and effects but I was wrong, so right now I am in the process of downgrading it back to 1.1.2 and re-adding the jail broken apps back on to there. I was excited to get the new effects like adding web sites to the spring board and being able to rearrange them how ever I wanted but apparently it makes sense to allow iPhone users to do that for free but not us iPod Touch users.

I am sure in the next week or so the new apps and effects will become availably in some form, like the iPod games did, and people won’t have to worry about paying $20 for a few cheap programs.

Apple there is no way in Hell I am paying for these, sorry but it makes no sense. Are you going to pay, have you paid for these updates? Do you think its worth the price? Please let me know via a comment!

Whether you wanna pay or not, it’s personal preference.

But speaking of whether it worth the value or not, i would have to agree yes it does.
Old iPod Touch is merely overpriced and it doesn’t worth the consideration of buying. To a certain extend I think those who have bought the early iPod Touch were victims of the market hype.

However with the new Mail feature etc, iPod Touch is starting to be appealing for the international market (since iPhone is still limiting in a global scale). The new price tag for iPod touch is worth mentioning too.

that’s my 2 cents
cheers

man, thats so lame. i got so mad when i heard about this. nice going apple! just more reason for apple haters to think worse of you. i wish i didnt buy my iphone, i knew buying into an apple product was a bad idea…

Hello.

Bear in mind that it costs them money to develop it and test it and roll it out. $20 for 5 apps is a very small price to pay. What if MS stopped charging for all new versions of Windows with new features and just gave away the new features for free instead of coming out with new version of the program for a cost? How long would they be in business? Same principle here. Apple has to make money to survive. And in fairness a lot of enhancements Apple releases are free for current owners. I know paying for things is a pain, but sometimes you just have to pay or go without. This is one of those cases.

By the way it would be nice to have some way to reach you directly instead of just posting comments, how about posting a URL to your home page or your e-mail address in all future postings? Sometimes its nice to talk privately to the blogger and exchange ideas.

hey I agree it is stuipd I got my iPod touch for Christmas and wanted thoose new apps too but couldn’t get them and well only 5 new apps for $20 is a good way to throw money down the drain, at mostthey should lower the price.
