The best DVD ripping software, Handbrake

Recently I have got into the spirit of wanting to get all of my movies on to my Mac. I thought about just rebuying my library through iTunes but that of course would be too pricey. Finally I settled on trying a program called Handbrake that I hear is amazing. Now in the past I have had bad luck with videos converters. Most of the time the videos picture quality would be great but the lip sync would be terrible so to say the least I was skeptical with Handbrake.

Hows the interface?
After putting my DVD, Pulp Fiction, into my DVD drive Handbrake read the movie and found all of the chapters and told me the length of each movie, perfect for TV shows DVDs. After selecting the iPhone/iPod Touch setting for my movie. The interface was nice and simple to use.
How long does it take to rip?
Well this is the one down side of Handbrake, it took me 12 hours to burn just one 2 hour movie. This is going to make it difficult to burn your entire library in a short period of time. I have tried other settings but non seem to make a difference in the speed. The drive I was using is the Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive, its better then the crummy old drive my G4 Mac. Now this performance could be due to the fact my PowerPC Mac is just a 1ghz with 1gb of ram machine.

How is the quality?
This is where the program shines, the video was crisp and sharp and with perfect lip sync! Thats right the video was enjoyable was on par with the DVD.  Also the movie had all of its chapters and iTunes and the iPod picked them up as well.
So to say the least you need to download this great free program. I give it  a 4/5.
