(WARNING: This fix is now out-dated, please install Zune firmware 2.3 to fix this issue, thank you)
Recently my Zune has been acting crazy and the result has been a dead battery no matter how much I have charged it. The Zune would say that it was completely dead when that was not the case. Every now and then it would reboot and then just crash again, I figured out last night how to fix this problem.
- Restart your Zune: Hold the back button and the up button.
- While the Zune is restarting you now must reformat the Zune (WARNING: THIS WILL ERASE ALL CONTENT ON YOUR ZUNE DEVICE) In order to do this while the Zune is rebooting press and hold at the same time the back button, the center button, and the up button.
- Now your Zune should be completely erased and should sync to your computer.
I would let it charge for the night and for no on please turn off your Zune instead of letting it sleep, you can do this by holding the play button until the screen is off.Technorati Tags: Zune,Microsoft

You do not need to erase/reformat your Zune 30. In fact, your directions could lead to some upset users who might want to keep the pre-loaded content.
The key is to turn off the Zune after every use by simultaneously pressing the BACK button and DOWN on the directional pad.

Got news for you. 2.3 didn’t fix my reboot/crash problem; this solution did.

Yeah, Stan, don’t be so presumptuous. This guy was the only person who helped me fix my problem. Thx Matt!
