22" HD Monitor for $150

I just bought my Hanns-G Widescreen LCD monitor from Staples, well the folks did for me for Christmas, for the ultra-low price of $150, after a few rebates. I have been eyeing this monitor on TigerDirect for the past few months and was planning on buying it for $270 but after seeing Engadget’s Black Friday Round Up list it was too hard for me not to buy it now.

This stunning monitor has some nice features like HDMI, 1000-1 contrast ratio, and a VGA port nothing special but that’s what my Xbox 360 needs to use. So now that I have my big Christmas gift out of the way I need to find some other stuff I could use like Leopard and Mass Effect. So if you are in the market for a HD monitor you cannot go wrong this bad boy. Expect a full review of this after Christmas.

I do not necessarily know a lot about HD but I do not that unless you have a 1080p resolution (1920 X 1080) or higher for a computer monitor, you will not be able to play HD content that comes from the computer. This is a similar situation that was recently explained in Dell’s blog, specifically related to the XPS One. Ironic that someone can configure a XPS One with a Blue-Ray drive but because the 20″ monitor screen resolution is 1680 X 1050, it will not play Blue-Ray content. The idea was recently be addressed by Dell twice at http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/2007/11/19/34532.aspx and at http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/2007/11/21/35306.aspx. If you are looking for a possible solution to this problem with this monitor and any computer HD optical drives, check out SlySoft AnyDVD HD. I use the regular DVD version and it works great. I would post the URL for SlySoft AnyDVD HD but Lockergnome and WordPress are blocking this post if it has 3 URLs in it.
