Tips for taking an online class

This quarter was my first time taking an online class for anything! The class I am taking is called “Web graphics and design” which in laymen terms means that I am learning to use Adobe(r) Photo Shop. The set up of the class is simple:
- I have one week to finish the next two chapters in the book.
- Complete a work ethic topic.
- Finally to take a test based on those two chapters.
Sounds simple right? Well it is but sometimes I find myself slacking off and wanting to do other things like surf the net and play some Call of Duty 4 so I have put together 5 rules that I follow for taking my class:
- Set aside at least 30min a day to complete actual book work.
- Set aside an additional 15min for studying.
- Play some music, I find myself being able to focus more with music playing in the background.
- Start your work before you start your day. Try and to finish some work before you even shower in the morning, doing this helps you focus more then doing your work during a busy day.
- Resist all temptation. Hi my names Matt and I am addicted to the Internet. Thats true I am and it sometimes interferes with my school work. So I have learned to ignore the internet until I finish at least the 30min worth of work. It was hard at first but I have worked through it.
I try to go by these daily and they do work seeing as I always have at least three days of a week from doing school work. If you have any tips of your own then please share them with the community by posting a comment.
