Why American Kids Are Overweight

As I was flipping through the channels the other day I noticed that Goosebumps was on the Cartoon Network. As I child I was fascinated by the books and often watched the show so it was kind of neat to watch something from my childhood, I am 19, during the commercial break I noticed something very strange. When the commercials started to play there were no toy advertisements, video game commercials, or even bicycle a on there nothing but FOOD advertisements. I mean how can someone allow this to happen? I mean a kid sees all of this food and it has to make them want it, just like when I was a kid when I saw a Huffy add I wanted that damn bike more then any thing in the world for the 20 seconds it was on there, but I didn’t have access to the bike, but kids have access to the food. It made me sick to see all of those commercials in a row.
I don’t know I am thinking about this too much? Is this really a problem? I think so but let me know what you think.

I don’t buy into the adverts make you fat idea. I understand your argument but it is much simpler than that - it comes down to the parents not wanting to parent properly with tough love and saying ‘no’ sometimes.
I have 3 children - one your age, 1 is 7 and the last is 5. So believe me I know tough love. That and not making them get away from the TV in the first place doesn’t help

I agree with you 100% there is so many factors with over weight children and it is sicking to see all of those ads for junk food.
