My iPod Touch is now jail-broken, and surprisingly it was easier to do on a mac then pc.

Yesterday after a long and tedious wait for my iPod touch to arrive in the mail. To kill some down time I started to read about the Jailbreaking off the iPod Touch and how people were getting new apps on their iPod Touch including the iPhone Apps. So when my iPod arrived yesterday after an hour of playing around with it I decided to go ahead and jailbreak my iPod and get those cool apps like Mail and Maps. The first thing I noticed when starting was that no one has the iPhone firmware to do this, thats because it is illegal to release and I cannot tell you to go to isohunt.com and search for iPhone. So magically I had the iPhone apps on my computer waiting to be installed on my iPod Touch.First off I own a PC, and have been a Windows User since 93′, and a Mac, which is under two months old and it was my first experience with a Mac, so I decided to jailbreak my iPod Touch on the Windows PC. I followed a very nice video tutorial on Youtube, and half way through it my iPod Touch refused to respond to the software. I mean my iPod Touch was halfway through the process of installation. By that time iTunes couldn’t read the iPod Touch or restore it to its original state, so basically I had to find some way of finishing the hack. So after an hour of freaking out that iTunes wouldn’t read my iPod Touch I decided to try the jailbreak on the Mac.Once started on the Mac I had found a great guide to do all of the cool things on the iPod Touch. After downloading all of the necessary programs and 10 minutes of actual work I had installer running on my iPod and running well. After that I had to go and add the iPhone Apps sepeartly bout of course was no problem, once again I was on a Mac ;). I felt so relieved that my iPod Touch was hacked and running the iPhone Apps. I must say Apple should of included these apps on the iPod Touch because they are just amazing to use. I love to know if I have new mail when I turn on my iPod. Also I have to say that this is the best mobile device I have ever had and I don’t think I will pick up my Zune until the new firmware update in November. So if you plan on hacking your iPod Touch please do yourself a favor and do it on a Mac, its a lot easier then its Windows counter part.

The title referring to the iPod Touch being free makes absolutely no sense after you read this entire article! You didn’t receive it “Free” so why delude and ill-inform people by the title? You should have more aptly entitled it “Jailbreak Much Easier On Mac Than On PC” or something to that effect as it completely suits the subject matter’s conclusion. Think about it…
