MLB News, Non Playoff News

Baltimore Orioles front office vice president Jim Duquette resigned from his job today after two seasons with the Orioles. Brought over from the New York Mets in 2006 to work with executive vice president Mike Flanagan as acting general managers. The two were supposed to turn the Orioles around but during his two years the Orioles have not mad the playoffs, of course they haven’t had a winning season in 9 years. Duquette was unhappy with his job after the Orioles brought in Andy MacPhail to oversee all of baseball related operations and took most of his job responsibilities.

Why is this important? I did a project in high school about MLB front office’s, mainly General Managers, and I e-mailed the Orioles and they directed me to him and he did a phone interview with me. Nice guy I wish him the best and hope he gets another job soon!

Also the Pirates fired manager Jim Tracy after 2 loosing seasons as the skipper. He produced records of 67-95 in 2006 and 68-94 this season.
