Mac mini Dead?
According to macosrumors.com the Mac mini will cease to be by the end of the month and will be replaced by a smaller more cost friendly Mac nano. Reports say the “nano” will feature a brand new design that is significantly smaller then the Mac Mini and will be just big enough to store a hard drive. One report says that this new Mac will be as low $250, God I hope that is true, now none of this has yet to be confirmed but one of macosrumors.com oldest and most reliable sources have told them about the nano. This does sound legit to me, the Mini is the oldest of the Apple computers to not receive a complete overhaul of the system including the exterior.
“the new mini will be as small in the horizontal as an internal optical drive will allow, and a little over 2/3 the height. Overall volume will be shrunk almost 25%, weight by about 20% and an all-new enclosure will be strikingly different from the design that has been the mini’s defining feature since its introduction.”

Apple could gain more of the market share with this kind of cost effective computer. Apple is also suspected to announce a new device that is an extension of the MacBook and is supposed to be ultra-portable, possibly with a touch screen. If all this holds true then Apple could have a huge holiday season with the cheaper iPhone, iPod touch, new MacBook, new Mac mini (nano), the updated iPods.
Apple is expected to hold a Mac related press conference at the the end of month so we will have to wait and see.

I don’t know about that price, but with no optical drive it should be cheaper. Mac Nano Photo
