New Zunes, Microsoft Pushing For DRM-Free Music

Today Microsoft announced 3 new additions to their Zune family. The Zune flash will take 2/3 of this with a 4 and 8gig model. The Zune 2 is the other addition with an 80gig hard drive. All of the Zunes, unlike iPod, will be able to do the same features such as share music, sync to a host computer via wifi, but there is still no wifi store. All of this is possible for the 30gig Zune via a new firmware update(release date unknown)New additions to the players them self include:
-New video codecs
-Podcast support built in
-Now 3 plays in how many ever days! Microsoft lifted the 3 days rule
- A new interface, still no clock!
- The new Zunes have the “Zune Pad” a touch sensitive d-pad
Also the Zune Software will get a complete face lift. Microsoft is working on a new build of the software building it from the ground up. Inside this will feature
-The Zune Social
-A social networking for music
-New podcast and music video support
-Over 1million DRM free music, huge step forward
-Recorded content from Media Center will be compatible
-You can now share music shared to you to others, confusing I know.
This was a big night for Microsoft as it plans on taking on the new iPods this Christmas.

Release date is set for sometime next month. Engadget now has most of the specs and alot of other info. W00T for DRM-free music!
