Denied For A Student Loan?

Like most new college freshman out there I need money for school because grants and scholarships don’t pay for everything. So I did what most college students do, apply for a student loan. After a couple of weeks of completing the forms I received a notice in the mail telling that I was an ideal applicant for a loan but I was denied, WTF? They told me it was out of their hands to please contact my school, which I did and I recieved this e-mail
“We are sorry to say but we do not allow our students to receive student loans. If you would like money for school please contact the financial aid office.“
So I did contact the finincal aid office and they told me that they refuse to accept student loans because they feel it is unnecessary to bring the school into the fact that you are trying to get a loan, they ever heard of a student loan? This makes no sense to me at all! So me , a student with barely any credit, will have to live off of basically nothing because of the stupid school. Does anyone have any explanation for this? The thing that gets me is that this was a private loan and all the school had to say was that I was in fact a current student there and I would of got the loan.

Ya I was denied Financial Aid, Student Loans and Grants. WTF. I am 25 years old trying to go to school, make crap for money at my job. Financial Aid says I dont qualify because I make too much. Make too much? 20,000.00 a year is too much? With my car, rent, auto insurance, bills, and other stuff im BROKE and I dont qualify. Student Loans… Hmmm the reason is I dont have enough credit. WTF, and Grants. Have not heard a word. Asks my self…. When I was in school aka highschool I hated going and was forced to go. Now when I want to go. I am not being able too. Hmmm

if a student is self dependent, approx how much money can he make with out getting denied fianacial aid? or a pell grant, stanford grant , for that matter.?

Same shit happened to me too. Except they denied me the day before my money needed to be handed in. I was so close to not being able to go to school this semester. The bank had the nerve to not tell me why I was denied and they sent me loan eligibility in the mail for a larger loan with a higher interest rate. I wish the best luck to you! Me too, I was turned down because I dropped 2 classes 15 years ago WHEN I WAS PAYING OUT OF POCKET! I HATE THIS COUNTRY! I lost my job, and can’t get a better one because they all want a God*$^@ Degree! College is too expensive to pay for these days without assistance!

Well I attend college,and I do recieve financial aid, but really its not enough to cover the gas to get back and forth and right now I am driving a car with no heat,so I do need a dependable car to drive. I am in abind right now because I lost my job and so did my husbund and our benefits have ran out. We keep even keep our mortage paid because of the way the economy is. My credit is bad too and I too have been turned down for student loans.I mean getting financial aid does help,but not enough. I just wished that the asistance could go towards the household as well instead of just for the books and education. Really the way I see it Going to school should be just like going to work.The college students need raises too.
