Should My Friend Buy A Dell Or HP Laptop?

  • No Related Post

He is looking for just a normal multi tasking laptop to have for like games and movies and stuff. He prefers a gig of ram and maybe a duel core processor but nothing to fancy. So do any of you have any personal experiences with Dell or HP? I am trying to get him to buy an Apple laptop but its not going well. He wants something under or around $700.

So HP or Dell guys? Remember something basic but can do stuff like games like WOW and HD movies.

Hello,

My personal preference is for Lenovo (formerly IBM) ThinkPads, however, $700 will not get your friend a notebook which is going to give a good experience for video games.

Your friend also might want to look at notebook computers from Asus and Toshiba and see if there is any model which meets his needs and budget.

Avoid Dell is my comment. I may detail why one day.

Don’t let the name fool you . You will pay more for a brand name but as far as performance its the same. He should go by the specs not the brand. he should even go for another brand not so well known as Acer. They are well known by those who know and i have lots of satisfied customers with their products not just laptops but lcd’s and ohter components… The names del/hp only mean you will pay more, they will not work better faster or longer.

I say that since I am using an HP laptop and loving it, that I would highly recommend it. Dell I am not so sure about.A lot of people are avoiding dells. I was very close to getting a Dell but HP approved the credit. I guess the people at dell financing did me a favor! so HP for the win!

The most reliable laptops I encounter are HP. I have one myself and no problems.

Hmmm … based on personal experience, I can recommend HP. I’ve got an older HP Pavilion n5000 with AMD and ATI onboard dual booting Windoze XP and Ubuntu and have not had a problem with in in all these years. I recently … like last week … upgraded to a new/refurbished HP Pavilion dv9000 series 17″ wide-screen and after putting it to the test (like 18 hours a day!) haven’t any complaints thus far … and really don’t expect any.

On the other hand, a friend has had two Dell’s replace over the past six months … and it has not been a good experience for them with both the laptops and with Dell service. It actually took two months to get the first one service and returned … still faulty … and another six weeks to get the second repaired and returned. Overall not a good experience.

But then, I’m sure you’re going to get those kind of stories from both sides of the aisle …
