Welcome to the world of blogging. I don’t do a lot of blogging on Lockergnome because I don’t like to just “regurgiblog.” I get the majority of my tech news and tips from the same places that majority of the public does (Engadget, Gizmodo, Wired, PC World, Mac World, TUAW, Apple Insider, ect…) I typically just like write length rants (see http://www.lockergnome.com/nexus/dabrace1984/2007/08/02/how-is-sony-still-a-major-company and http://www.lockergnome.com/nexus/dabrace1984/2007/08/03/how-is-sony-still-a-major-company-part-2 for examples) and post suggestions that a lot of other people don’t know about.

Anyway…let me give you a couple of suggestions.

1. learn how to use tags in WordPress (when writing a new post, underneath the “Save and Continue Editing,” “Editing,” and “Publish” buttons buttons, look at the given example.

2. don’t just post things to post things such as your “So my website got shut down” (especially if you don’t have a solution to the problem or if you don’t provide additional information about the problem such as where you purchased the domain from or who is your host)

3. when you post your favorite YouTube, learn how to use WordPress to embed the video rather than forcing the reader to copy/paste into a new browser/tab

4. make sure that you check your grammar or have someone else read your posts before you publish them. I will never claim to be an English expert, just use common sense. I have read the sentence below about 10 times and I’m still having trouble understanding it.

“I wish they would do like with the Vista Beta and let us test it out for free before it releases to help make it better and more secure.”

I hope that you don’t take these suggestions too personal. When I made my first post I got creamed too.

Thank you for being honest. I really appreciate it myself, when people have constructive advice for me to improve myself. Unfortunately our society has greatly been neglectful of a basic education to life, and it is a good thing to share our understandings and knowledge with others. To be honest, I made quite a few mistakes when I started, and felt rather stupid for not being more observant. I think we often just plunge into things without thoroughly thinking them through, and then pay for it later. Blogging is a wonderful refinement tool, and I have appreciated it’s lessons.
