Tips on how to get voice in #chris

So I have been a voice in #chris that is Chris Pirillo’s chat room for about 4 months. It was a long patient period that I had to go through to get voice. First off let me explain what voice is for the people that do not know. Voice is the “+” sign that you see in the user list in IRC chat rooms. It is what enables you to talk if the chat room is moderated or +m, and in Chris’ chat room the chat is usually moderated during the videos that he shoots every night excluding the weekends. For the people that don’t have voice all they can do is sit and watch. They can’t share there opinion in the video, or if Chris shouts out a question to the chat room they are lifeless. So I will share my tips that I used to achieve my goal of getting voice in Chris’ chat room.

#1. Do NOT ask for voice! Very important. Yes, I know you ask, well then how do I get it? I wanted to ask for it so bad but I had to hold back and it paid off!

#2. Get noticed. The ops/hops are not going to know that you are there if you don’t get yourself noticed! Stand out and I mean in a good way; be a regular chatter and engage in the conversation.

#3. Do not flood spam or do anything bad in the chat room that will hurt your reputation. It will just make it harder for you to get the Voice if you loose your trust! It is all based on trust because that is what a voiced user is: trusted.

#4. If you do something wrong, confess and say sorry because you want to be known as a good person! Don’t lie about it. If you spammed and did not mean to then say sorry and promise that it will never happen again.  (Do not get kicked or banned for any reason if you can help it!)

#5. Last and most important, get to know the Ops and Hops. That is how I got Voice - I got to know a op and jained their trust! This really goes back to getting noticed; an op did not know me nor did the op know that I was there until I was showing that I was good and would be a good voice.
