Use YouTube to Research Your Next Trip

I find myself searching YouTube for a lot of the same content as I would in Google, especially when it comes to travel. My wife and I travel whenever possible, and I prefer to be an informed traveler. I generally take cruise ship / hotel / resort “tours / reviews” on the company’s website at face value. I like to find reviews, photos, and videos from actual past guests. There are many sites, such as Trip Advisor, that will give you a text & picture review, but nothing gives you the full picture like an amateur on-site video.

My YouTube videos of my cruise on the NCL Sky has thousands of views, much higher than most of my other videos. People want to see from a guest perspective what they can expect. In planning our cruise on the Carnival Triumph (sailing late August), I found a passenger who just sailed the exact same itinerary, and did several on-site thorough review videos on YouTube. They were great to watch, and we have been dialoging back and forth about the ship. I got information from her that I would never get from the Carnival website.

I encourage you to search YouTube before booking your next destination; you never know what you may find out! Post your own videos as well. I will be filming and “tweeting” from onboard the Carnival Triumph in August. By doing this you are not only participating in a community, but you will record some great memories. I still look back at mine and laugh!

I too look at youtube for a variety of things. For example we were going back and forth about what theme park to go to so we looked to see if there was anything or any videos on youtube about them. Sure enough there was tons and we found the one we wanted because we were able to see the rides and park attractions better then their own websites.

Thanks so much for the great idea man. can’t believe I never thought of it myself. Greatly appreciated. You rock!
