Screencasting on a Mac

Recently I have been looking for a Screencasting program for my MacBook Pro.  I haven’t tried them but I have heard of Snapz Pro, iShowU and ScreenFlow.  Just like every program, they all of their pros and cons.  The biggest thing to consider is their price.  Here is a breakdown of their costs:

Snapz Pro –> [...]

Fireworks

For all of you fireworks enthusiasts out there, please be careful over the next week or so.  The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) released their 2007 Fireworks Annual Report (PDF) yesterday and estimated that 9,800 fireworks related injuries were treated during the year 2007 and that 6,300 or 64% we treated from June [...]

Virtual Machines

I love virtual machines.  The virtual machines that I have are used for many purposes.  My primary home computer is an early 2008, 15” MacBook Pro.  It has Mac OS X Leopard as it’s primary operating system, Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 in Boot Camp, and Windows XP Professional SP3 in VMware Fusion.  My primary office [...]

Repair

I was reading an article on my local newspaper’s website titled “Money Saving Advice: Get it fixed, don’t throw it out.”
http://www.mcall.com/news/local/all-a1_5repair.6468399jun20,0,832420.story
How many of you are getting things repaired rather than throwing them out?  Every spring I take my lawn mower to a repair shop so the blades can be sharpened and so the engine can [...]

Poor Pitchers

This week, the majority of Major League Baseball (MLB) is playing interleague games.  This is when American League (AL) teams play National League (NL) teams.  I think it is a great way to make baseball more enjoyable.  Without interleague play, the Philadelphia Phillies wouldn’t play the Boston Red Sox unless they met in the World [...]

Apple And United Sitting In A Tree…

Do you have an iPhone? an iPod?  Do you fly United?  If you said yes to any of those questions you are either happy or angry.
According to 9to5Mac and c|net, Apple and United are going to start allowing you to connect them into the planes’ in-flight entertainment systems and charge the device.  It also seems [...]

What Has Google and The Internet Done to Us?

I came across an article at TheAtlantic.com.
http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200807/google
Basically this article talks about how Google  and the Internet has changed the way we think, read, and find things.  Google has made it so we don’t have to remember anything anymore.  If we are looking for something, we just go to http://www.google.com (or whatever your countries address is) and [...]

Facebook has more users than MySpace

TechCrunch is reporting that Facebook now has more worldwide users than MySpace.
http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/06/12/facebook-no-longer-the-second-largest-social-network/
This doesn’t really surprise me.  Once Facebook opened it’s doors to pretty much anyone, it would only be a matter of time until it had more users.  According to TechCrunch, both services are pulling in +/- 115 million users.  That is a lot of [...]

Google Internet Throttling Monitor Tool

According to several sources (c|net, The Register, Gizmodo, Hot Hardware, Slashdot)  , Google is currently developing a tool that users will be able to will allows users to find out whether or not their Internet Service Provider (ISP) is throttling their Internet connection.
From “The Register” and “Hot Hardware:”

“We’re trying to develop tools, software tools…that allow [...]
