Are Skype calls safe? Yes and no. Calls that are made between Skype users PC-to-PC are secure and encrypted. Calls that are made to a standard telephone or mobile numbers are encrypted until they reach a public switched telephone network. Skype Conference calls, where one participant is a PSTN customer (regular telephone or mobile phone) , on the Skype application the padlock icon will not appear. The padlock icon not appearing indicates that the call is not being encrypted. So, if you are calling someone from your PC to another PC you have no worries. If you are calling someone from pc to regular telephone or a mobile number, you calls are not being encrypted.
