I have been reading a lot about the upcoming iPhone 3G lately. I currently have the original iPhone, and it has been the best phone that I have ever used. One thing that I have been having trouble finding online is a direct comparison of the battery life of the two phones. Here are my findings based on the estimated tech specs that Apple has given. Please note that real world times will vary.

Will I be buying the new iPhone 3G? At this time I would say no. I will not be in the long lines on opening day. I already have a great phone. I am almost always around a Wi-Fi Connection. I already have access to GPS. My 8 GB iPhone is nowhere near full. I will be upgrading to the new software and downloading apps. Pressure and hype could change my mind and I may get one later on. I will see what others are thinking of their new iPhone 3G. Will are you real world battery times? Are you going to be upgrading your iPhone to iPhone 3G?

I was just surfing Hulu.com and ran across a great Star Wars spoof “Death Star Repairman.”   Now that Hulu is open for anyone, make sure you check them out.   In the meantime, check out Death Star Repairman.

For the last few months, I have been a beta tester for Hulu.com. This is a free service where you can watch TV over the Internet. It has tons of programming, including content from FOX and NBC. Intel just announced it is going to start producing solid state drives. Solid State Drives are hard drives that have no moving parts. They use less power and are more reliable than platter-based hard drives. These new drives will initially release with up to 160 gig capacity.

Intel will be competing with Samsung, eventually slashing prices by 50%. This is the future of hard drives.

I am at work right now working on upgrading one of my BES (Blackberry Enterprise Servers). I have a support subscription that entitles me to free upgrades. I am in the process of downloading 453 Meg download for this. I have a direct connection Tier 1 Backbone to the Internet over 100 Meg fiber, and the fastest speed I can get this download from Blackberry (RIM) is 72.8KB/Sec. This is a shameful download speed, especially from a large company as Blackberry. This is while using $700 a year support agreement. GET WITH IT BLACKBERRY….

Tide has announced a contest where you can win one of 34 Tide Themed iPod Classics. This all stems from their talking stain ad during the Superbowl. You upload a photo of you and then do some of their web page editing. They are giving 1,000 pirzes a day.

Apple has released an IPhoto ‘08 Upgrade to version 7.1.2 today.   This should help overall stability.   It is highly recommended that you update today.

This morning (Feb 5, 2008) Apple has released an upgraded iPhone. This new iPhone is the same as the first but now is upgraded to 16 GB of storage. This new phone is selling for $499 while the 8 GB version remains at $399. Apple 16 GB iPhone

Apple has also updated the iPod Touch. It now has the 32 GB version which sells for $499. This makes the iPod Touch available in 8, 16, and 32 GB. Apple 32 GB iPod Touch.

Today Apple has updated IWeb ‘08 to version 2.0.3.   This update helps with OSX compatibility.   IWeb is part of the ILife ‘08 software package.   If you are running ILife, update today
