I have recently recieved the Sprint Sierra Wireless Aircard 595u USB EVDO Card. I was looking for a way to get mobile broadband that could be used on both my Dell laptop and my Macbook. USB was the only option.
I pulled the USB EVDO card out of the box and put the CD in my Dell laptop. I ran the installation and it asked for me to put in my card. It registered the card with no problem and I was out surfing the net within a couple of minutes. All that I can say about speed is that it is FAST!!! It is comparable in speed to some of the local DSL services. Not Bad. I was getting download speeds of 1100K with uploads at 700K. That is hard to beat (except for WiMax).
The card does not come with the Mac drivers, but you can download those for free from Sprint. I ended up downloading this, installed, and put in the card. It worked right away (to be expected on a Mac). I was getting about the same speeds as my Dell.
I tested watching streaming video via Youtube and ustream and the videos started almost instantly. I expected some lag time. You got to love it when electronics beats your expectations. I then started to send video via ustream.com and that worked perfect.
So what is this costing the consumer. You can purchase this card at any Sprint store for $30. Service is $60 with true unlimited bandwidth. Their competitors charge the same monthly but limit your bandwidth.
This card also has GPS functionality that can only be used on a Windows computer. It will tell you your GPS location and also look for different types of business or other locations that are close to you. For example it will tell you all the restaurants that are in your area. I do not know if this is a function that I would use, but it is nice to have.
I would definitely recommend this card to anyone. If you need mobile internet to go, then check it out.
Do you use this or any othe EVDO card? How do you use it? Would you buy it again?

Will this sierra wireless 595u aircard work with my playstation 3? Can I use it to connect and play online ps3 games with it? Maybe if I plug it into the ps3’s usb port, or in the back of a wireless rouoter/
Thanks,
Robert
