I Hate McAfee Antivirus - Alternative Antivirus

I am sitting here in my office working on a friends computer that will not connect to the internet. I am able to ping all over the place, so the machine can see the Internet, just no Web pages. After troubleshooting this thing for a while, I discover that it is McAfee Antivirus that is keeping him off the internet. I just got finished uninstalling McAfee off this computer. McAfee is such a waste of time, resources, and money. There are better alternatives out there. Two of my favorite antivirus programs are Avast & Kaspersky.Avast has a free version for home use. It uses the least system resources of what I have tested.Kaspersky is also a great program. It has the highest detection rate. It is not free though, but it is reasonable in price.What antivirus do you use? Do you purchase this type of software? What headaches has McAfee caused you in the past?
