Gizmodo Staffer Banned From All Future CES Events

Last week was CES “Consumer Electronic Show” in Las Vegas, NV.   Gizmodo was there along with every other major tech blogging site in the country.   One of Gizmodo’s staffers brought along a TV-B-Gone miniture remote control and kept on turning off exibitors televisions.   This was at both booths and events.   He videod it and posted it on the internet.

CES was made aware of this and sent the following statement banning this Gizmodo staffer from future CES events.

We have been informed of inappropriate behavior on the show floor by a credentialed media attendee from the Web site Gizmodo, owned by Gawker Media. Specifically, the Gizmodo staffer interfered with the exhibitor booth operations of numerous companies, including disrupting at least one press event. The Gizmodo staffer violated the terms of CES media credentials and caused harm to CES exhibitors. This Gizmodo staffer has been identified and will be barred from attending any future CES events. Additional sanctions against Gizmodo and Gawker Media are under discussion.

Gizmodo Banned For Life and Loving It

What an immature, inconsiderate idiot. That guy should be fired if not sued for interfering. He violated an agreement regarding conduct that he signed and agreed to, plus he was there representing his company, which is even worse. His behavior is inexcusable and extremely rude.

While I agree that this is a very immature and inconsiderate thing to do, I do believe that this will only get Gizmodo more Press/Blog coverage. A lot of the blog sites were talking about them doing that. That draws attention to get people to visit Gizmodo website. They then make more money from there ads. With website advertising, there is no such thing as bad PR.

This is reminiscent of pranks pulled by 5th graders. It just goes to show that some people have no manners. I bet he was wetting his pants over messing with these exhibits. What a moron. Whatever happened to public flogging?

Did you anyone read their side? They DID have a point to this and it doesn’t appear it was just some “ha ha” prank as some people think.

I think they were trying to get a message across but everyone is so worried about their TVs.

Not something I would have done but harmless…

At the bottom of their article they do make a humorous statement. They are right, I bet some of those people did NOT know how to turn the TVs back on without their remote control readily available (i.e. pressing the power button). Just goes to show how common sense can go right out the window when people assume the problem is difficult.

When you hear hoof beats, think horses NOT zebras ;-)

Peace!
