Spare The Air - Fireplaces

In the town I live in, they just started regulating fireplaces starting this month. Before you can have a fire, you have to check out a website to see if air quality will allow it. If you get caught having a fire when you are not supposed to, you can be fined $50 for a first offense.
For a techno geek like me, this is not a problem to check. I do want to help the environment, but I also love to have a fire. Sometimes it’s the ambiance, and others it is just the pyro side. Where I have a problem is with older folks or poor who do not have money or technical know how on how to check. They may rely on fires to keep warm, since they can not afford higher power or gas bills. How do you feel?

No Fireplace without permission from the mayor! What next? Dought if any ordinance requiring you to log onto the internet to check air quality will hold up in court.
