Microsoft Windows Vista - Thoughts

When it comes to computers, I am platform neutral about Operating Systems. At home I am running both Windows Vista and OSX Leopard. I have been thinking about Vista, and have come up with a few opinions.
My Windows Vista computer is a Dell XPS 410. I bought this the same week that Vista came out earlier this year. I have not had a single problem with it. It has never crashed (as opposed to my old XP system). It has always run quickly. I have never had any hardware compatibility issues. It just runs and runs. I have talked to many people who have had many issues with Vista though, and I do believe that there are issues with Vista. There will never be the perfect Operating System, so get over it. If you are going to run Vista, don’t install it on a computer that was not made for it. Only purchase a quality computer made specifically for Vista. Stay away from low end computers, as their parts are cheap, slow, and not necessarily compatible with Vista. If you are building you system, only use newer higher end parts that is listed for Vista (you are still gambling here with building your own system).
As I stated before, I like both Vista and OSX. They are both systems that will get the job done. Don’t get locked in by fanboy mentality. You get what you pay for. There is no perfect system. Everybody’s needs and likes are different. Be open minded about platform neutrality. Finally, remember to have fun with your computer.

Hello,
A good article, CompuTrout. Like you, I have been using Microsoft Windows Vista since it was released, and the only issue I have come across attributal to Microsoft is the slow copying of files, for which a hotfix is available.
My experience with Vista hasn’t been trouble free, of course, but the problems I have experienced, aside from the aformentioned copying issue, have all been with third-party hardware and software vendors, which shows how important it is for indepdendent developers of software and hardware and Microsoft to work together during the product development cycle to ensure that applications software and device drivers are well-supported.
