OK Folks - Secure Your Wireless Networks

Make sure you secure your wireless networks. I have been running Istumbler on my Macbook, and it always amazes me how much of the population does not secure their home or business networks. I was just a a friend’s home, and I was able to see five open networks. I quickly hopped on one of them (which ended up being my friends) to check email. It is too easy these days to capture packets and get financial information. Internet Leaches are also able to steal all of your bandwidth. This will slow down your internet. You are setting up yourself to getting in trouble from someone hacking from your location, accessing illegal websites, or even worst. Be Smart and Secure Folks. It only takes a few minutes, and can save a lot of other headaches.

I have a wireless network that slows down too much when fuly locked down. I simply keep the MAC addresses whitelisted on the router, and I don’t do anything over wireless that I care if anyone sees. The SSID is also not broadcast. Very few people are capable of spoofing a MAC address, and those who can will not be stopped, because they will brute force their way in anyway. Wireless is not secure, just time consuming.
