Hard Drive is Going Bad - Make Sure You Back Up

[tags]hard drive, hdd, backup, back up, cobian, harddrive, external[/tags]

Lately I have been having to help out a lot of people who’s Hard Drives have been going bad.   This has been a lot more than usual.   Of course none of these people have complete backups.   You are playing Russian Roulette when you do this.   Below are a couple of tips that can help save your data.

  • Store Data on a seperate Hard Drive than what Windows and your applications are being stored on - This will decrease the amount of hard drive access, and increasing your odds of your data to not be lost
  • Have an external hard drive with auto backup software that will back up your data on a regular basis.   This can be daily, weekley, or monthly.   I use a freeware program called Cobian Backup.   This software has save me a few times, and is easy to use.

Be safe out there, and may the data be with you
