I have owned many computers in the past. My first one was given to me as a hand me down from my uncle. It was a Leading Edge 8088 XT, with two low density 5 1/4″ Floppy drives, and 512K memory. There was no hard drive, and it had a 14″ CGA monitor. This was a very basic computer, but it worked great for calling all of the local BBS. I would have to load DOS from a floppy. My favorite program in the day was Telix. This was used to dial out the BBS’s. This computer gave me great fundamentals in learning the systems, and also taught me how to type well. Even though it was a basic machine, it worked well for my needs. What was your first computer?

My first computer was a Commodore VIC-20 with 5K of RAM. I had a tape drive and it came with an RF switch for the back of my TV.

Sinclair ZX81 kit. 1kb ram (later updated to 16!) Zilog Z80 8 bit cpu running at a scorching 4 mhz! Cassette tape storage, thermal printer. Sinclair had a great basic implementation that served me well untill I could afford something a bit more advanced. But hey!, that was 1981! Not too many alternatives at the time, especially for about $150!
