Storing CDs and DVDs

In my efforts to organize my home office, I am now dealing with how to store all of my CDs and DVDs.   In the past I put them all in CD Folders.   I have also stacked them on shelves.

The issue I have with using the CD folders is that with new updated software, I end up having to move too much stuff around.   After time, these folder wear out and then the pages always seem to fall out.

The problem with just stacking then on shelves is that they are unorganized.   I always have a hard time trying to find the CD I need.   If I do not have them in a case, they then get scratched up and then unreadable.

I am now putting all of my CD’s in CD/DVD envelopes, and then placing these in small baskets.   Time will tell if this will work well for me.   How do you store your CDs and DVDs?

CD Storage

I use shelves on the wall - the kind of shelves that use brackets put into slotted wall standards. I works great. I have 2 walls in my bedroom for them. One wall has music and video discs, the other has software.

Hello,

Have you considered imaging your discs as ISO files and saving them to a hard disk drive in an external enclosure? They could then be mounted as needed using virtual optical drive software. The original CD and DVD discs could then be stored in a regular three-ring binder using replaceable CD binder pages for “offline” storage.
