Changing Dock in Mac OS X 10.5

So I have heard a lot of people don’t like the current look of the dock, so i decided to do some research. I found out that there are a few different ways you can customize it. The first and least of a hack is to make the dock 2D vs 3D. this is the most common change and one of the easiest.

To do this open Terminal under applications > Utilities > Terminal. Once you have opened Terminal type without quotes “defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES” (with caps). Then press return. Now type without quotes “killall Dock” (with caps). this should then turn your dock into a black with white outline look. To change it back t the default dock type without quotes “defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean NO” (with caps). Next type without quotes “killall Dock” (with caps) . This should then return you mac to the default dock.

Next is the more of a hack. You need to go to Leopard Docks and download and install the app. Now go to Leopard Docks and download a dock you like. Once you have gotten all this done you need to open the Leopard Docks app and select choose folder; select the folder you just downloaded and click change my dock. Now to get it back you need to click change to default.

Note: I am not going to be held responsible if you damage your dock. It is possible if you type or click the wrong thing. If you have and questions comment on this post and I will try to help you out.
