I need some help

I have tried everything I know of, but I just can’t find the answer. I was hoping maybe one of you could help. My grandmother has a Mac Book that in the beginning was always kicking her off the web. It then fixed its self. Recently I changed the wireless settings to wireless N only and wide frequency. Then it started kicking her off again. I then changed it back to mixed mode and a standard frequency. It is still kicking her off. She has a Linksys WRT105n Wireless router. When it was kicking her off we ran Network Diagnostics and it said that we were connected to the Network, but not the Internet. Please comment. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Not sure it helps, but I had that issue with my Linksys and after much frustration I bought a different brand (Belkin). No problems since.

Assuming there’s no difference between a wireless Mac and a wireless anything else, I’d try to figure out where the break is.
When you say kicking her off the web, does that indicate she has no net but wireless is ok or is there no wireless?
When it goes out, can you ping the IP address of the router from the laptop? This will help you localize the problem.
Does it behave the same way when plugged directly into the router or modem?
You wouldn’t happen to have a spare wireless unit you can swap in, would you?
Are you noticing signal strength degradation or electrical issues when this happens?

It Depends Sometimes it is kicking her of the World Wide Web and others she is totally kicked off of the whole network.
There is no problem when wired into the router.
You can’t ping the ip when it is disconnected.
No Spare.
No signal strength issue all to nothing.
Also when it was kicking her off it was very violent. She would be on and of with in a second. So many times AIM wouldn”t let her login.

Is it really warm when this happens? I have a Netgear (I call it my Notgear) that does this when it gets hot. I did a little research and found out I’m not the only one with this problem. It’s just not cooled correctly but Netgear doesn’t care - they already have our money.
If it’s a heat issue, try putting a fan right up on it.
That aside, it sounds like a bad router for whatever reason. I’ll bet if you try the laptop on a different wifi service it’ll work fine. You/she might have to bite the bullet and buy another one. If it turns out not to be the router, you can return it, but I’m guessing router.
Good luck.

I have heard that Leopard tends to have problems with WiFi connections, especially ones that don’t connect to a AirPort Extreme base-station. Check it out on Google.
