Jonathan Jackson Photography Updates

I’ve been working on Jonathan Jackson’s web site the past few days and would like to point out some additions and changes to the Jonathan Jackson Photography web site.
Jonathan has sent me images for what is now my most favorite Jonathan Jackson Photography photo gallery. The images are from Western North Carolina and are nothing short of breath-taking. I’m a little biased in my opinion about the Western North Carolina Photo Gallery since I was born in Asheville, North Carolina but trust me, if you like any of Jonathan’s prints you will truly enjoy this latest addition to his portfolio.
Jonathan is also releasing a new article and exercise to assist aspiring photographers. Camera Basics II: Determining Exposure through Meters and Modes informs photographers of the different types of light meters and camera modes used to evaluate light.
The corresponding exercise, Camera Basics II Exercise: Meter Issues - Dealing with Light and Dark Subjects, is a fourteen shot exercise detailing how to effectively deal with light and dark subjects.
There will be more articles and exercises in the future.
No chrisshort.net article about Short Consulting clients’ site changes would be complete with some technical jargon.
With this series of updates there have also been some back-end changes to the Jonathan Jackson Photography News section of the site. The changes are visibly noticeable so let me explain. About two days ago, Jonathan called me and said that his site’s news articles were being inundated with spam. This kind of spam is what we bloggers call comment spam.
Comment spam has been running rampant on the ever popular blog, Our Life, and my attempts to combat that spam are usually a reaction to the spam as opposed to a proactive measure to eliminate it. This is due in part to Our Life’s use of MovableType 2.661 and the now unsupported MT-Blacklist 1.65.
Luckily, Jonathan Jackson Photography is in a much better position to combat spam proactively. I decided to upgrade Jonathan Jackson’s blog to the latest version of MovableType so that his site could utilize the latest MT-Blacklist incarnation which is the same system which is quite effectively used to combat comment and trackback spam here on chrisshort.net.
This new system will be put to the test over the next few days and I have no doubt that it will live up to the task of thwarting spam before it happens. The system has already caught three messages in the past twelve hours that were spam but won’t be seen on jrjphoto.com - News.
