Search as it is Today

I guest blogged over at Backcountry Conservative (further blurring the lines between tech and politics).
I discussed the status of the search engine industry as I know it today. I’d highly recommend checking it out.

Upgraded to MovableType 3.1

MovableType 3.1 was released today.
chrisshort.net was upgraded shortly after the release of MT 3.1. The upgrade process was quite simple. Upload the necessary files and run the upgrade script. Upgrading from MT 2.6 to MT 3.1 requires running two upgrade scripts but is equally as easy.
There are a lot of new features […]

Insanity Prevails at Slap Yo Face Off

September’s update of SlapYoFaceOff is complete and up for the world to see.
September’s slaps are quite interesting. There are six slaps in all but three of them were submitted by the fans of SlapYoFaceOff. That means that three people are in the running for a SlapYoFaceOff prize pack this month.
The forum is free […]

chrisshort.net and Google AdSense

chrisshort.net has now fully incorporated Google AdSense ads across the site.
After some thinking, a little work, and some testing ads are now being displayed across chrisshort.net.
The idea was to ensure that the ads would enhance the content without taking away from the visitor’s experience. I think that has been accomplished.

Slap Yo Face Off - Ramping Up for September

I’ve begun work on September’s additions to SlapYoFaceOff.

Ads are only on the home page at this point. The look and feel of the ads is what I’m […]

Google IM and Google Browser?

Today’s syndication comes from DaveDorm. Sorry for nothing original lately. I’m stuck in class all day and play daddy when I get home.
It’s possible. Google is immense. Google is All Knowing. They may even be working on Google IM in the coming months. We have Google Toolbars. Google Mail. And lest we not […]

Sarah posted today about a nifty little download. It’s called the Gmail Notifier! It TOTALLY rocks socks! :) I can leave it in my task bar and not keep a tab of gmail open all the time. It even plays the system new mail notification sound when new mail shows up. It’s […]

Soggy Monday

Featured in Lockergnome
I woke up this morning and noticed a trackback from Lockergnome. A few weeks ago Chris Pirillo of Lockergnome sent an e-mail off to his group of orkut friends looking for more writers. I volunteered my services by offering chrisshort.net for syndication in Lockergnome. Last week Chris, Bob, and I […]

A Problem with Olympic Coverage

There is a problem with how NBC is handling Olympic coverage. Maybe it’s not a problem, maybe it’s just marketing. Call me a fortune teller, call me psychic but I know what Paul Hamm is going to do tonight, I know who the fastest man in the world is, and I knew that Carly Patterson […]
