I recently read this piece of news and I wanted to share my thoughts on it. Recently at a CNN interview with the creator of the best-selling series “Harry Potter,” J.K. Rowling, she revealed that she had suicidal thoughts before the debut of the Harry Potter books! The news piece is here :
LONDON, England (CNN) — Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling has revealed she thought of killing herself while penniless and suffering from depression as a single mother, according to a report in Britain’s Sunday Times newspaper.

Well, this is so sad to know that there are people willing to take out their own lives! She had a daughter for crying out loud! And yet she still thought of suicide; that’s got to be real depression. Do you guys think some level of depression could make you take out your own lives? Know there are people who love you and care about you? Knowing, to some extent, you DO make a difference?

I’m going to re-quote your article
I’d strongly suggest by your nick that you are not a Single Mom. Maybe in a long shot a single Dad, but most likely NOT a single Mom. Have you ever been a destitute parent? Have you ever had NO HOPE. Have you ever suffered from a depression ( a medical illness) that required medical assistance to over come?
Do you remember Kurt Cobain?
Once again we take only the most basic information, and condemn someone for their thoughts, not their actions that eventually overcame their difficulties.
I applaud Ms Rowling’s successes, and wish her all the best in her new life and I hope very much that her example fuels another persons victory. I salute her friends that DID support her in her times of need and hope that their examples shine through to all those who suffer beside those who have to deal with these medical illnesses, and more so to those who have lost a loved one to depression.
And I hope that some day we really read the pap that we have thrust in our faces as news and information, looking for the fleeting examples of excellence rather than the easier road of mindless opinionatedness.
