ConnecTech by AT&T, “Another” Geek Squad Rip off?

AT&T recently announced it’s computer/TV repair service called ConnecTech available for residential customers in all 50 states, whether they are AT&T customers or not. Customers will be able to get home theater installation, computer and home network setup, and a slew of TV, computer, and network repairs right from the comfort of their own homes.
Looking around the website offers a feel of the services offered and it seems their prices are in line and in some cases, cheaper than similar services such as Geek Squad. In-home support will cost at least $180, and TV/home theater support will cost at least $150.
Putting aside the fear that these techs will spend 90 percent of their time in your home trying to sell you on other AT&T services, ConnecTech sounds like it could offer a few more options to those who don’t have a family tech expert handy.
I am completely against GeekSquad and other services like them. I believe they use a customer’s ignorance of technology to make more money and their expertise is questionable considering they hire teenagers and have no training to speak of, other than on the job training. I have posted on the Geek Squad and my feelings towards them before. We can only hope that AT&T techs will be honest and not try to rip off their customers simply because that customer does not understand the ins and outs of how the systems work.

This is a great service. I currently do work orders for AT&T ConnecTech and i love doing it. I have done Wireless network installs, new pc setups, hardware swaps and more. The best part is that AT&T doesnt rob the technician like most companies do. For example you pay $150 for a wireless network install and the company gets $120 while the tech only gets $30. AT&T is very generous and gives the tech more than half the money. Also they have very experienced professionals do the work. I myself have over 8 years in the IT field. You must have a drug test and background check done as well.
