iPhone with no Contract!

We all know that on July 11th the 3G iPhone will be released for the price of $199 for the 8gb and $299 for the 16gb. These prices come with a mandatory 2 year contract. Information released today indicates that “Coming Soon,” AT&T will offer the phones with no commitment at $599 for the 8gb and $699 for the 16gb iPhones. When this will happen has not yet been released but as someone who works for AT&T I am guessing it will take effect less than 6 months after the initial sales of the 3G iPhone.
So, if you want an iPhone but do not want a 2 year contract, you will be offered one, but at a much much higher price.

I’m not going to pay double the price just so I can get a Pay-As-You-Go iPhone. It’s kinda useless. And it’s STILL AT&T! Gimme the option to switch to T-Mobile and I’d pay the price.
