George Carlin Dies

I am a big fan of George Carlin.  I have seen all his shows live here on the Gulf Coast since I moved here in the early 90’s.  His wit and rather controversial comedy was refreshing, funny, and usually true.

Yesterday, Mr. Carlin checked into the hospital with chest pain and later passed away from heart failure, he was 71.  Earlier this year, he was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American humor and was to accept the award in November.

I was looking forward to his next show here on the Coast.  His last show was in LasVegas less than 1 week ago.

Throughout his career he continuously pushed the envelope, never afraid to cross the line once he found where it was.  His content “Seven Words That Can Never Be Said On Television” sparked a legal battle over freedom of speech that went all the way to the Supreme Court.

I will miss George Carlin and his comedy.  Since the 50’s he has been making people laugh and think.  His legacy will continue in DVDs and his books.
