Phone Junkies Hospitalized?

“Two children in Lleida, Spain have been admitted to a mental health facility where they are being treated for an addiction to their cell phones. The two children, ages 12 and 13, demonstrated inability to carry out daily activities in the absence of their mobile devices. Dr Maite Utges, the director of the clinic, has recommended parents to allow their children to have cell phones only after the age of 16″. Read the full article HERE.

Now, you have GOT to be kidding me!  I mean, aren’t there enough made up problems in this world, now we have to make one up for cell phones?  Here’s a thought…..TAKE THE PHONES AWAY FROM THE KIDS!  If they whine and cry about it, that’s normal, kids do that.  They will get over it, I promise.

Parents have become way to sensitive and protective of their kids in today’s age.  A kid daydreams, he has ADD, if he gives his parents a mean look, he’s out of control and needs medication, if he gets in a fight he’s a danger to society, he’s fat because he eats at McDonald’s too much, the list goes on and on.  Is it the childs’ fault?  Heck no!  It’s the parents all the way.  Parents blame everything on the outside world and what the child is exposed to that is not in their control, instead of taking responsibility and stopping the exposure.  God forbid the kid gets mad at the parent, can’t have that! (I’m being sarcastic here people).  All of the “experts” telling the parents their child needs this or needs that usually don’t even have kids of their own!

Discipline has become so lax today that kids know they can get away with anything by just blaming the TV or the teacher, or any number of outside environments.  When I say discipline, I’m not talking about beating the kids (although I am pro-spanking), but instilling respect for elders and basic social etiquette has gone right out the window today.

I am 39 years old and I still say “Sir” to my father and “Mam” to my mother and anyone that is my elder.  That’s because I was taught respect for my parents and respect for others.  Kids today are too damn spoiled.

Take the damn cell phone away from the kid and if he cries, let him cry.  If he holds his breath, let him pass out (He’ll start breathing again as soon as that happens).  Stop letting your kids run your life and take charge of theirs!

What Do You Think?
