PEAse PEAse, Help me….

Did you know that today is the first Frozen Pea Friday? In honor of Susan Reynolds’ fight against breast cancer, a number of her supporters on Twitter have created FrozenPeaFund.com a new site to raise money for breast cancer research. The base donation requested is the price of two bags of frozen peas - about $5.00 (US).

When Susan found out a few weeks ago that she had breast cancer, it was recommended that she put packs of frozen peas on her breast where the needle biopsy had been done. She fell asleep with the peas there and woke up with them cooked. When she reported this on Twitter, a new idea was born. In support of her, many members of Twitter have changed from avatars to PEAvatars for the time being.  There are a collection of the PEAvatars available from Flickr in the group Frozen Pea Friday. I was lucky enough to have Matt Ortiz create me a few PEAvatars, which you can find there in the group. In addition, since not everyone knows how to add stuff to the Flickr and the group, I created a new Jing tutorial on how to do it. Find it here!

Today was Susan’s mastectomy. As I type this, the surgery has just finished. The first results are back: Her lymph nodes are clean! That means they are likely to have gotten all the cancer - which is great news.

PEase: Join us in the fight against breast cancer. We all win when this disease is overcome!
