Sick of giving presentations where your audience isn’t involved or even paying attention? Ready to take your presentations non-linear? Join me Tuesday, August 14, 2007 for a live Webinar on non-linear presentations. The official title of the Webinar is Step Outside the Boundary of Time: Create Presentations That Go With the Flow and you can sign up for it by clicking that link. There is a cost for attending, but I think you will find it well worth your time.
Why? Because in one hour you will get some of my top tips for presenting materials in a manner that forces your audience to be involved in the presentation. Involvement will increase audience attention and information retention. By setting up your presentations so that the audience decides where you will be going, you keep the audience centered on the presentation content. In addition, by allowing the audience to determine the order of information, you ensure that your presentations will be audience targeted, less boring and more memorable.
If you want some details on how non-linear presentations can help you, check out my blog post over on MVP Seminars. It has more details on what will be covered and what non-linear presenting can do for you.
So why post this in both places?
I am doing a test. It has been a while since I posted over on the MVP Seminars blog. I stopped blogging over there because it doesn’t seem to be getting read or getting noticed. I have been pushing more on getting content here, because I know that there are readers of this blog.
On the other hand, I have a commitment to MVP Seminars to let it try to get me speaking and training engagements. I guess you might consider this blog post an effort to see if I can help it help me. I know that there are people out there interested in presenting better. I also know that I am a good speaker (or at least that is what the attendees at my presentation at SWUG said). But I can’t seem to break out into the speaking and training worlds with any consistency. I get big bubbles of work, and then nothing. The nothing times are okay, since they give me time to write. But - I would really like to be out helping all of you do what you do better.
What does that mean? Well, in part it means that people love me when I am at their place of business or in front of them speaking. But if I am not in front of them, I am not thought of for the next time. Therefore - it is time for an experiment.
The experiment
On the MVP Seminar blog post, I have pointed people to them to contact me. On this blog post, I am pointing you all directly to me. I am hoping to get at least a couple of reactions from one place or the other on how I can improve my memorability. (Is that a word? I guess it is now…) I want to know - what would you do if you were in my shoes?
Blatant plug coming: Bring me to your place - either live or electronically to show you how to do non-linear presentations. The one hour Webinar is just the start of the training. I can provide anywhere from one hour to three days of training on non-linear presentations. Contact me at call_kathy at cox.net so I can help you!
