Goodbye Vista, welcome back XP

I see myself as an early adopter of new technology. I was excited about the new Microsoft OS, running the betas and RCs. Then a nice clean install of the official version of Vista. Trying to adopt to the new OS. As always I expected some learning curve but in general change is good (especially in technology). Now I downgraded (or should I say upgraded) to Windows XP again.

Now my systems works the way I want it. No more funny problems with most of my software. Vista didn’t make me more productive, it slowed me down…

And that isn’t acceptable.

I’ve been having nightmares with games DVDs on the two new Dells I got for my sons. I think it might be related to “improvements” in Vista…

I despise Vista. I am doing software development which has forced me to switch to Vista. It is without a doubt the worst Windows operating system I have had from Microsoft, including Windows 1.0. Everything is an issue. Most software does not work correctly, including Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional. I had to buy new versions of much of my software kit. Many of my standard utilities are now toast. With Vista I go backwards, sideways, backwards again but never forward.

I agree. My computer is so slow after “upgrading”. How do I go back to XP (Media Center)?

Shortly after installing Vista on my Dell, the problems began. I downloaded the updates but kept getting the message “update failed to install”. Many of my programs that I paid, to me, big bucks, no longer worked. Adobe Acrobat 6.0 was incompatible with Microsoft’s new OS.

I bought a new ACER laptop which I love. But, would you believe it, my new copy of MS Office would not install properly. I purchased Nitro PDF and it would not install properly. I am sick of that little blue-green circle that goes round and round. I started seeing that thing in my sleep.

If I click on a program’s icon, I want it to open, but not with Vista. You wait for that %##@* circle and click “ALLOW”. What a piece of crap. This miracle from MS was taking up to 2 minutes or more to boot up. My dual processors were pegged 100& and 63% respectfully the whole time. Now, I am sure thats not good for them. The thing is a RAM hog and runs constantly using about 25 % and 45% on by duals. What in the world is it doing?

This is only a partial list of the problems but this week I had had all I could stand. I reinstalled Windows XP Professional on my laptop and the world changed. Everything works. I can upload to my website twice as fast as with VISTA. It only takes 10 to 15 seconds to boot up and I’m ready to go. I feel like a man who has been liberated from prison after 20 years!!!!

And Microsoft thinks this VISTA is an improvement over XP. They may be nuts but us low-life scum bags out here in radio-land aren’t. I know lots of people who have switched back to XP and so happy they did.

Don’t expect SP1 from MS to help the situation. This version was nowhere near ready for release. Why in the world did they not incorporate some of the good features in VISTA into XP? I thought Melinnium Edition was bad, but VISTA is a nightmare.

Thank you for allowing me to vent. I feel so much better. GOD BLESS AND KEEP WINDOWS XP…………………………..
