Believe it or not, we’re just getting started when it comes to the Christmas shopping season. This is a huge event for the shopping industry, but it’s also a time where the costumer can get some pretty wicked discounts. Today I’d like to bring up the discussion of what you think is the hottest gadget this year. There have been a wide variety of new releases in a wide variety of categories including cellphones, HD Pocket Cameras, GPS, and much more. Which gadget do you think is going to be the most popular for Christmas?

In my mind, one of the best devices this year is the Kodak Zi8, which I’m hoping will be in my stocking for Christmas. This nifty little camcorder is one of the more advanced pocket cams on the market right now. Allowing for up to 1080p recording and the ability to plug in an external microphone, there’s no doubt in my mind that this camera will be a hot seller during the upcoming shopping season.

There are plenty of other interesting new products that came out this year. The Motorola Droid, the Palm Pre, and of course, the iPhone have been real competitors when it comes to smart phones. Although the iPhone is without a doubt the most popular of the three, it has been proven with these new releases that there is still some fight left in these companies.

There will be plenty of deals and savings throughout the upcoming weeks. Since companies are fighting for every last dollar they can get, you’ll probably notice a sharp decrease on some of the most popular items. Definitely keep an eye out on Tagjag and Coupons.lockergnome.com.

With that said, what gadgets do you think will be the first off the shelves?

The other day I came across a new website that allows you to completely unfollow everyone you’re currently following on Twitter. I mentioned it on my personal blog earlier today but I thought that it would best to share this web application with the rest of the community.

The service itself is pretty simple. All you have to do is input your Twitter username and password into the required fields and hit start unfollowing. It’s important to know though that it takes some time for the whole process to be complete. Once completed, you’ll notice that you’ll be following absolutely no one, meaning that you can start your Twitter journey all over again.

With all of this said though, it’s important to remember that once you hit the “Start Unfollowing” button that you won’t be able to undo the action. There is no stopping the system from unfollowing everyone.

So if you’re wanting to start all over on Twitter Unfollowall.com is the URL that you need to head to.

Do you know of any similar applications? Feel free to leave a comment below.

Darren Rowse is probably most famous for his blog ProBlogger.net. In fact, if you search “blogging” on Google you’ll find that his site comes up number three. He’s managed to build a whole empire around the blogging niche, making him one of the most respected online content producers in the world. However, this has taken quite a bit of time to do. Over time he’s slowly mashed together the power of written content, social networks, and videos so that he could expand his brand throughout the Internet.

Well, he’s done it again. Just in the last week Darren has opened a new website called ProBlogger.com. This website is a community forum where bloggers around the world come together to collaborate, create new ideas, and share their experience with each other. In fact, within the first few days alone, ProBlogger’s forum has grown to almost 1300 users, which is incredible considering that the group developed so quickly.

This new website is definitely going to get quite a few eyeballs in the next few months from bloggers throughout the Internet. I’d really be curious to see if Darren is going to expand it from a regular forum to a whole community, possibly similar to Geeks.

What are your thoughts?

Throughout the early hours this morning there was the announcement of the Nokia X6. This new mobile device is said to be one of, if not the best handset since the iPhone was released.

According to the press release, Its 3.2 inch display is excellent for viewing photos and video, not to mention its sleek user interface. However, there’s a wide array of other features that this device has…

Music just got a whole lot more interesting, with the introduction of the Nokia X6. 3.2-inch touchscreen? Check. 32GB of storage? Check. 35 hours of music playback? You guessed it, that’ll be a check. Did we mention the blow-your-mind design? We’ve only just clapped eyes on the sleek and sexy X6 and already we can’t keep our peepers off it. At a touch under 14mm thin, it’s slim frame packs plenty of power and will leave music lovers in no doubt as to how they’ll be listening to music on the move when the device goes on sale this side of Xmas. What’s more, the Nokia X6 is a Comes with Music device which means you’ll be able to tune into as much all-you-can-hear music as you like without having to spend a penny extra.

In addition, it’s also said to have incredible battery life, with 35 hours of music playback and 16 days of standby time. The camera on the device is said to be pretty remarkable as well. In fact, its camera has 5 megapixels, along with world-renowned Carl Zeiss optics….

I don’t know about you, but this is sounding like it could be the iPhone killer. What do you think?

new link shortning services

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but yet again, there’s another URL shortening service on the Internet. Br.st thinks that they’ll be able to make a significant footprint in the URL shortening realm and take away some of that valued marketshare from Bit.ly and TinyURL.com. However, this worries me considering just how many other short URL services have gone down under lately.

With that said though, Br.st thinks that they’ll be able to get over this presumed failure by introducing local time zone based statistics, which they say won’t include bot traffic. Even more exciting is the fact that they’ll give you the ability to visually compare statistics between three different metrics at the same time.

This isn’t something we haven’t seen before though. Bit.ly has their own statistics program that work with their links, similar to to what Br.st is offering. However, there’s another addition that Br.st plans to release very soon, which is the sharing of images and files. If they’re successful with this, I believe that it may be the way for them to bash their way out of the list of potential link shortening failures.

I’d be curious to see what you guys think. Would you give Br.st a try or will you just stick with traditional URL shortening services such as Bit.ly? What do you look for in these services? Is there anything special that you’d like to see from them?

The rumors have finally been confirmed about the Sony PS3’s price drop. However, it’s not just the price that’s been plummeting. The brand new Play Station console is now smaller, lighter, not to mention cheaper.

Have you ever had a moment when you were taking a picture and something unexpected jumped into the frame? Depending on your situation it might have made a picture better or ruined it all together.

Jackson and Mellisa Brandts, a couple from Minnesota, have a very unique story to tell though. As they were traveling through Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada they decided to take a portrait of themselves with lake Minnewanka in the background. They weren’t the only people who wanted their picture taken, though…

Just as the photo was about to be taken, a squirrel decided to pop its head up. Check the image out below!

Here’s what Mellisa Brandts had to say about the weird coincidence:

My husband and I were exploring Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park, Canada, when we stopped for a timed picture of the two of us. We had our camera set up on some rocks and were getting ready to take the picture when this curious little ground squirrel appeared, became intrigued with the sound of the focusing camera and popped right into our shot! A once in a lifetime moment! We were laughing about this little guy for days!

If you search for the word squirrel in Google you’ll find that “Nuts”(the squirrel’s nickname), will be your first result. This squirrel has also been featured in a multitude of television entertainment and news shows. It’s amazing how a single picture can get this popular in a matter of weeks.

Vancouver has added yet another automated train line to its already thriving transit system. Canada Line will allow direct connection from Vancouver’s airport (YVR) to the downtown core of Vancouver. Lengthy lineups caused huge delays, with some people waiting up to three hours for their free ride on opening day.

The significance of the Canada Line has been very controversial. There’s a split in opinion on whether or not the Canada line was created due to demand for transit within Vancouver or if it was strictly politics by the BC Liberal government.

So what exactly is the Canada line? It’s a train system that doesn’t use a driver, but uses rolling block break technology. These systems assure that the trains won’t bump into each other, but maintain a safe distance and speed, while getting passengers quickly to their destination. For more information on how SkyTrain works watch this YouTube video.

The Canada line is in addition to Vancouver’s already thriving SkyTrain system, which is also fully automated. SkyTrain has had absolutely no crashes in its long history and is known as one of the most safe transit systems on the earth.

So if you’re flying to Vancouver you’ll be pleased to know that getting around will be a little easier with this brand new state of the art transit system.

Ever since the announcement of Microsoft’s latest search engine in mid-May, Bing has been gaining marketshare in the search engine market. According to Comscore, Bing has gained nearly a full percentage point of marketshare since its installment, and now that they’ve created a deal with Yahoo this statistic is bound to grow.

However, this increase in Bing searchers hasn’t affected Google as much as expected. In fact, a majority of this marketshare has been taken from Yahoo, which isn’t really that significant considering that Bing will soon be the new Yahoo search. Google has only suffered .3 of a percentage point, which is nothing compared to Yahoo’s losses.

These statistics are quite interesting, however, the real test will come once Bing takes over Yahoo’s search market. Bing’s future relies on their ability to maintain or increase their marketshare in order to pose a real threat to Google.

What are your thoughts? Do you think Bing has a chance? Does any search engine have a chance to catch up with Google?

VMware and Parallels for Virtual Machines

It doesn't matter if you're running on Windows or Mac OS X - every power user needs either Parallels or VMware (or both). There's never been an easier way to test software without destroying your primary operating system's stability. Think of how many times you wish you could press a 'reverse' button on your computer. Plus, there's no easier way to try new Linux distributions - see what all the fuss is about. Run Windows in OS X, run Linux in Windows, but the best way to do either is with VMware and/or Parallels.
