Have you ever woken up somewhere without a clock and realized that you were late for work? I would have to admit that that did in fact happen to me. Sometimes for some strange reason, you just don’t have a clock around you. If this ends up happening to you, hopefully you have your laptop, or computer with you. Because I’ve found an interesting website dedicated to waking you up.

The website is called KukuKlok. What it does is uses your computers clock and allows you to set what time you wish to get up. It uses a twenty four hour clock, but that isn’t really a big deal. They also give you the option of choosing between a rooster, a guitarist, standard beeping, and a ring as an alarm. I usually go with the rooster or the guitarist. Then you set the time in which you wish to get up, and that’s it. You leave your computer on overnight and keep your web browser open, and it will work even if you lose your internet connection. This is really nice because some areas are not reliable for internet connectivity.

I should also point out that the Kukuklok’s webpage says that it is designed to wake you up. So I’m assuming that they chose sounds that would strategically wake you up. If you have any thoughts on this feel free to email me. I’m always eager to hear your opinion and what technology or websites do in your daily lives. Also don’t forget to comment below and tell me if this clock worked for you. Maybe even tell me a story like how much you overslept on a work day. Were you late?

You need to make a radio station first. To do that please read a different tutorial by clicking here!

I’m sure if you’re reading this that you want to have your own Internet radio station. The only problem is that you don’t yet have a server for your radio station. Well that is where listen2myradio.com comes in. It offers free Internet radio hosting with up to 2000 listeners at a time. Below I’ve created a tutorial to show you how to set up an account. If you already know how to do this you can go to my Internet radio station setup tutorial by clicking here. So here we go.

Step 1: Go to listen2myradio.com, and in the menu bar select sign up. After that fill in all of the required information including a user name, password, email, country, and gender. Don’t forget to read the terms and agreement.

Step 2: Once you have set it all up including the email activation login to your account. There you will be prompted to select a server. Select the one that suites you the best. After that you will see a screen. You will most likely see a whole bunch of warnings that some of their servers are not working. Just ignore all of that. Go to the lower part of the page a click radio installation. Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and fill in all of the required information including the broadcaster password, the administration password, and your radio name/URL. Remember that URL as that is the URL to your radio station.

Step 3: Once you have all of that going go down to radio installation then look three spaces right. You should see a turn on/off button there. Click that. Once you do, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on. Now your radio should be active. It may take a few tries at that to get it working. Please wait a few minutes.

Step 4: Check the radio status. If it’s on below the status should be an IP address and a server port number. Put those into the shoutcast source box. If you don’t know what a shoutcast source box is click here.

That’s it. If you have any questions about this tutorial feel free to email me at bradley(at)bradwelltv.com. Or comment below. I love hearing all of your opinions on things like this.

Thanks, Brad

I was browsing along the other day when I found a pretty neat social networking website. There is nothing that really stands out about it other than the amazing looks it has. One thing on it that you don’t see in many other social networking websites is that it has the ability to pull in a blog from a different website, i.e. your own. This provides more exposure to your blog as you are presenting it in a different format to many different audiences. Virb of course also allows you to create your own profile, with the picture, information, interests, etc. But it also adds something unique. It allows you to create your own personality tag like what your favorite sauce is. This can be very useful for the person that has their own very unique personality.

Virb also allows you to delete categories that you do not want to be shown to the public.I should also point out that Virb offers some very beautiful looking color customizing, where they allow you to change the color of the text box, headers, etc. Virb has also been rated one of the most beautiful social networking sites by a private source.I would definitely recommend Virb. It provides a great user experience and my opinion is that it will get very popular over the next number of years. By the way, if you want to add me as a friend on Virb, here is my profile link.

Ventrilo is basically voice communication software that people use around their homes, for gaming, businesses, and much more. It is used by famous people in the technology industry such as Chris Pirillo.

To download ventrilo you need to go to ventrilo.com to get the software. Now on with the review of this magnificant product.

The download of the Server for Ventrilo is fairly simple, and easy. The hard part is configuring it. I don’t recommend going on configuring it yourself. I recommend going to Youtube and find some how-to videos on the configuration of the server. They have some great videos on the step by step instructions on the setup of the Ventrilo Server.

Now the Client. The Client is very easy to configure. All you need to do is get the IP address of the Host Server and put it in the spot where it tells you. Then you simply press connect. If you are a newbie i don’t suggest making your own server, but using someone else’s.

Overall Ventrilo supplies clear and crisp sound, and the delay is surprisingly better than i expected. Our calculation of the delay in the household was a little under half a second. When we tried to contact someone across in the Netherlands we had a delay of about two to 3 seconds.

Here are some Ventrilo speakers that i have used and appreciated the most.

-Voice Communication

-Instant Messaging

-Hot Key(press to talk)

- Easy to set up Client Software

-”Fast Server Set Up”

- A great Comunity

A rating for the ease of use of this product would be a 4 out of 5 star rating.

Thanks Bradley Bradwell

Today i have come across a website that has addicted me ever since i found it. It’s called Animoto and the purpose of this website is to take your pictures and make them into a professional looking video. When i say professional i mean professional. I will paste the link to a sample video at the end of this post.

How you do it- First you create an account. You have two choices. Number 1- Make a 30 second video which is very high quality and FREE, and then there is one that you can get longer.Unfortunately for that you have to puck up some dough. The 30 second one is really all you need though.

Then they will ask you to upload the pictures for you video. They prefer you upload between 10 and 15 images as if you do any more they will be cut off. This should take only a little while depending on yourInternet connection speed.

Next you are able to choose from a selection of songs for your slideshow. The best part is that your slideshow will play to the beat of the song. If you don’t like any of their beats(which i highly doubt you will dislike) you are able to upload your own song from your computer.

After that you fill in the required information for the presentation, and click next. There they will produce the movie within several minutes. You will get an email when it is fully produced. Then watch as Animoto amazes you.

The finished product is really quite remarkable. Taking less than 15 minutes i see a video that would take me weeks or more to build on my own. Here is the video that i made http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hA5AYD0NCc.

If you are interested in making your own account go to animoto.com and get started. Animoto if i had to rate it would defiantly be a 10 out of 10 for performance, but also for the speed in which it is finished at.

Thanks

More and more now people are becoming the victims of identity theft. The problem is that a great amount of it is from the Internet. Today i have come up with a few tips to keep your passwords safe and prevent hackers from getting them.
1- Don’t use just one password. To many people now days are just using one password. Try making multiple passwords. Another good idea is to keep passwords that are related with the real world like banking, social security etc in the real world, and keep the passwords that you useon line (Youtube, Facebook etc) separate from them. Having them all the same password will increase the chance of being robbed. Think of it this way: If someone gets one of your passwords, andthats the password you used for every single account on line, most likely you now have no access to any of those accounts.

2- Don’t share your passwords. This should be pretty obvious. This usually happens with teenagers and sometimes leads to bullying. Kids will all give each other everyones password putting their full trust in each other. Then one person changes the password, then guess what: The person you gave your password to has control over your stuff, and you have no control what so ever. Even if you trust the person, keep the passwords to yourself. Why would you want anyone else to know them anyway?

3-Make sure that you know all of your passwords- Make sure you use passwords that are good, but make sure you know them because it is notnecessarily a good idea to write or type them. If someone gets a hold of these passwords when your not looking weather on paper or on your computer it could bedevastating . If you have to type them due to long term memory problems try and set a master password(Sort of like a password for passwords). SomeInternet browsers have this feature for example. Having a master password just creates another wall that someone has to get through to get your passwords.

There are plenty other things you can do to protect yourself, but most of it is just common sense. Keep private information private, and don’t share your personal information with others, even if it’s your best friend in the world.

Thanks

It is really disappointing when you become sick and end up missing school for 1,2, or maybe 3 days. Not so much the fact that you don’t have to do anything, but more with the fact that afterwards you have to catch up all 12-16 hours of class and lesson you have missed. Here are the top 5 tips to getting your homework finished and caught up.

1- When you notice you get sick. If you feel that you may be getting sick the day before you get sick, START. What i mean by this is get prepared by asking teachers what work you have to do within the next couple of days, and what assignments are going to be due. This can helpallot, because when you come back it will be a little harder to get two days lessons out of teachers in an hour or so.

2- Use the Internet- You wouldn’t believe this but the Internet does help you with your school work. All you really have to do is Search the topic you are working on and you would be surprised what you might find. Icoincidentally have found the answer key to a few of my assignments just by searching it on Google . Your School may also have a “How To” section on their website where they have live help, or tutoring. Teachers may also post assignments to the website for students to use when they are absent. Again i have found that using theInternet is sometimes easier to learn from than teachers. You never know, there might not be schools in the future. It just may be online.

3- Dedicate Time- It may be hard to do in some cases, but dedicating time out of your Sick Day to catch up on missed work is an excellent idea. Even one hour will make the difference. This is also a good idea because after you go back to school, teachers are probably going to dump the biggest load of homework on you, you have ever had. Plus if you wait, you will still have the homework you had to have completed before you became sick. Now thinking about that just makes me sick.

4-Make sure you know when tests and quizzes are coming up- This can be very important to you focusing on your work. Some teachers may not let you do a test another day when you come back to school. They mayin-fact force you to write the test that very day. Try your very best to know about these tests as early as possible because most of the time they can be a very large portion of your mark.

5- Don’t take to much time off-. I’m not saying go to school when your sick, but don’t over do it. Some people end up taking an extra day off because they can. This can really effect what happens with your school. It will put you behind even more than you were expecting and really is veryunnecessary . This can be especially bad when you are in high school, causing you to miss lessons, and getting a ship load of homework. So only take the time off that you need, not how much you want.

That’s it. Just thought i would come up with a quick top 5 list there. I hope that when your sick that you take into consideration your health, but don’t forget about your schooling and studies as well as they are both very important to living a healthy life style.

I am not sure if you have noticed, but lately i have really taken the time and have noticed that there is less and less domains available. When i got my domain, i had noticed thatbradwell.com was taken. That really surprised me. Who takes Bradwell. One of the problems with domain names just being eaten away, is that they are not necessarily being taken away from people who build websites. Instead they are being taken and used for the soul purpose of advertising.

Indeed i am sure that you have noticed more and more that websites you visit have a search bar, and then the rest is all just advertising. The only question is if this should be allowed. Of course it is their own domain that they paid for, but in my opinion this is just making theInternet look like, for a lack of a better word “Vandalized”. Is this the truth?

What i am recommending is that you get your own domain quickly before all of them are taken from advertisers. You wouldn’t believe how many of your choices are already taken. When you do get them, try and get as many as you can for your future websites and businesses. In my opinion it’s now or never.

I would definitely like to get your comments about this. Leave a comment after the post! Thanks.

Thanks.

Thanks

Wordpress.com just released their new format for bloggers, and it hasn’t really impressed me with the new features. Here are some problems i think that are negative towards the new format.

1- The Tags, I really liked it when they just had the text box where you could just write the tags in. Although you can still do this, once you click add or press enter they are written onto theweb page with “X” beside them. This makes it pretty hard to copy and paste the tags to websites like Delicious or Digg.

2- Not allot of “Noticable” new features. They do have some new code abilities. What i would really have liked to see though would be the ability to add Adsense ads, and intigrate them with your online blog. Unfortunatly you can only do that with Wordpress.org. There are ways to put Ads in your posts but it is against Wordpress Terms of Use.

3- I cannot see the Word Count. I used this quite frequently when using their old platform, but now i can’t find it anywhere. I have this feeling its around but it is not inimmidiate view. It would be nice if they put a wordcount back where it was below the post text box.

-

Now here are some improvements that i think are good for wordpress.

1) I like how we are able to edit the permalink to a certain extent. Its nice to be able to get rid of those dashes and all that extra crap. Its also nice that you are able to edit the title to a title that you feel better suits the topic of your post.

2) Eye Candy??? In my opinion it’s not a big improvment, but it definatly works. They have moved the Publish button to the rights side along with the save button. They have the option to look at your most used categories when categorizing your blog. It feels more fluent, and buttons aredefinatly more clear.

3)Dashboard- I really like how they intergrated a bit of everything including blog stats, comments, etc. I really like the flag that pops up when you have a new comment on one of your posts. This becomes very useful when trying to manage your wordpress site. Again on the Dashboard everything is very clear as to where you can find it.

Overall the new Wordpress.com is fine, i do think there are a few minor changes that would help in the overall improvement of the site like thewordcount. I cannot stress enough how important i felt that was. I would just adore wordpress if they would let me put Adsense on it. I think it would attract me towards publishing on wordpress more often. Not that i wouldn’t publish on Wordpress

Anyway just thought i would post my opinion on the new Wordpress.com. The site is definatly Good looking with lots of eye candy.

Thanks

So you have just made a website………………. Now what do you do? Most people create a website expecting it to just take off, and be one of the most popular sites on the internet like Youtube, Google, or Facebook. Well right now you are probably being laughed at. Oh wait there is no one to laugh at you.

Have no fear though. I have come up with some quick and easy solutions to help you market your website.

1- Use the power of Youtube. Create a promotional video and upload it to Youtube. You wouldn’t believe how many hits some websites get by putting it on the massive site. If you do choose to put it on Youtube, try and add a link to your website on the main screen. An example of this would be my website http://live.bradwelltv.com. As you can see i have a title bar at the bottom of my screen, and on the bottom left corner there is my website. Although this is not a link, it is still noticeable to the public. You can get hundreds of hits just by using Youtube, so i defanatly recommend using it.

2-Comment in Blogs! You wouldn’t believe this but commenting in blogs gives you that presence in online communities. People will look to you to answer questions that they think you have knowledge of. Now this doesn’t mean put a comment in any blog. Strategically place them in blogs related to your website and your expertise. Also go onto many blogs, and not just one. This will give you a wider presence throughout the internet, and cause your name to become more familiar in your users heads.

3- Give out contact information. Make sure that on your website you have an about/contact page for your users to be able to contact you. Without a about/contact area your website will look more spammy than professional looking. Without it you will cause your users to feel hopeless, and that they are not an important part of your community. If you have a contact page and receive emails from your users, REPLY!!!!!!
Nothing feels worse for your user then feeling like their question isn’t important. If you don’t reply there is also a very high possibility that you have lost your costumer.

4- Be quick- This is very important to keeping users addicted to your site. Apply fresh new content at least 3 times a week. If your site isn’t updated frequently is becomes boring and unattractive. This doesn’t mean redo your whole site 3 times a week. It means add new things, write something new, or just do something that isn’t old. When i say to be quick, i also mean “be first”. Try your best to make sure you have newly released information first, so that search engines will quickly find the information, and direct it to your site. One of the worst things for a user is seeing the same story come up from website after website after website. They like to see something new, and creative.

Thought i would just write that quick little post today.

Hope you enjoyed.

Get a Free Audio Book

Are you tired of reading books? Me too. Over the years, I developed pulpuslaceratapohobia - and the only known cure for that is <a href="http://audiblepodcast.com/chris">Audible</a>. Finally, a way to digest words without actually having to read them. Professional voices are wonderful choices if you love literary works in audio format. Are you ready to read some <a href="http://audiblepodcast.com/chris">audio books</a>? Maybe you should just listen to them instead.

VMware and Parallels for Virtual Machines

It doesn't matter if you're running on Windows or Mac OS X - every power user needs either <a href="http://send.onenetworkdirect.net/z/13766/rn_a32755/">Parallels</a> or <a href="http://send.onenetworkdirect.net/z/17081/rn_a32755/">VMware</a> (or both). There's never been an easier way to test software without destroying your primary operating system's stability. Think of how many times you wish you could press a 'reverse' button on your computer. Plus, there's no easier way to try new Linux distributions - see what all the fuss is about. Run Windows in OS X, run Linux in Windows, but the best way to do either is with <a href="http://send.onenetworkdirect.net/z/17081/rn_a32755/">VMware</a> and/or <a href="http://send.onenetworkdirect.net/z/13766/rn_a32755/">Parallels</a>.
