Bing Quietly Sweeping Up Marketshare

Ever since the announcement of Microsoft’s latest search engine in mid-May, Bing has been gaining marketshare in the search engine market. According to Comscore, Bing has gained nearly a full percentage point of marketshare since itsĀ installment, and now that they’ve created a deal with Yahoo this statisticĀ is bound to grow.
However, this increase in Bing searchers hasn’t affected Google as much as expected. In fact, a majority of this marketshare has been taken from Yahoo, which isn’t really that significant considering that Bing will soon be the new Yahoo search. Google has only suffered .3 of a percentage point, which is nothing compared to Yahoo’s losses.
These statistics are quite interesting, however, the real test will come once Bing takes over Yahoo’s search market. Bing’s future relies on their ability to maintain or increase their marketshare in order to pose a real threat to Google.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Bing has a chance? Does any search engine have a chance to catch up with Google?

I sincerely hope Bing does catch Google. Competition drives innovation. Two great search engines is a win for everyone. Only time, talent, and vision will tell.

I like Bing, it searches almost as well as Google.
IMHO Google’s UI is getting a little long in the tooth…..
They better watch out maybe after like 12 years, MS finally got it right on the portal search biz.
