Is Google Becoming A Junkyard For Spam?

Google is the largest search engine in the world at this point in time and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. While it’s indexing sites every day bloggers and content producers are creating content that feed right into their search results, however, I’m beginning to find that a substantial amount of these results are either inaccurate, a rip of from another author, or just complete junk.
Currently, it’s believed, that Google determines relevance through the number of links pointing to a website rather than judging by traffic and other statistics. This has lead to reciprocal linking and link exchanges, essentially fooling the search engine into believing that their website is “important,” and deserves a higher page rank. Now more than ever you’re seeing a constant flow of spammers commenting on websites and blogs just to get some “link love,” and I hate to say this, but they’re getting what they want.
My personal opinions of Google is that it’s a fantastic resource for new information, and that a fair amount of the information being distributed via their search results are reasonably accurate. With that said, It’s unfortunate that some people attempt to con it through irrelevant links and keywords, but hey that’s reality….. Right?
Now this leads me to my question for you guys. Do you think Google’s search algorithm is working? If not, suggest other ways the Google Bot can determine the relevancy of a website.

i personally think it’s working, it has served me well for 10 years and i had no problems, im fully satisfied by Google’s products in general. There must be some imperfections but the good things are more than the bad.
