How to prevent spam

” width=”500″ height=”500″ wmode=”transparent” /]Spam has become a big issue in this technological world and almost everyone has become victim to it, including me. Luckily i use Gmail and am able to separate a good majority of spam that comes into my inbox, but there is still a few buggers that seem to make their way in.

Here are some tips to prevent spambots from filling up your inbox with spam.

1- If you have your email on your website add characters. For example: My email is bradleybradwell@gmail.com. For my email i would put (bradleybradwell(at)gmail(dot)com. This will tell the bots that your email is just words not an actual email. I have found this to be very useful when building websites.

2-Limit to which people and what companies you are giving your email to. Some companies will take your email and use it to spam you. Make sure that whoever you give your email to has some sort of privacy policy in place to prevent this sort of issue.

3-Have an anti-virus program that prevents spam. Although this sometimes doesn’t work, it is probably a good idea to have a program just in case a spammed message turns into a virus.

4- Have two email addresses. You use one email address for signing up for things like facebook, and you use the other for your personal email ie: for family, friends and other close people.

Remember to think about who you give your email to and be sure who you are sending emails ie: is a trustable person.
