windows vista requires quite alot of good hardware with the right combination you’d be satisified but if you dont care about the visual looks and effects then i think you’d be twice as happy on xp as it is totally desinged for perforamnce

This is my first high-quality camera i’ve bought… The Canon S5 IS is incredible! I studied all the shooting methods and program modes for a good few hours before going out for my first shoot while on vacation. Once you get to know the right settings for the right type of photography: This camera produces simply amazing pictures!

While the included batteries didn’t last long at all… infact died rather rapidly… the Canon CBK4-300 AA Battery and Charger Kit ’s supplied Canon batteries lasted me for my entire trip with only one recharge, with active shooting, reviewing photos on the camera, and uploading to my laptop.

I decided to install ubuntu on my laptop since I really only use it for browsing the net and the occasional document that I type up.

UBUNTU ROCKS…

It does everything I need it to do and now I’m considering ditching windows on my desktop and just going with Ubuntu.

It does everything I need it to do without the aggravating problems I’d run into with windows.

I wished I’d discovered operating system years ago…

Yes, the battery door also providing access to the memory card is a bit….inconvenient, but I can live with that.

Hi all Ubuntu kubuntu users
I’ve been using ubuntu for on my alienware laptop now for the past 6 months its great haven’t looked backjust downloaded the kubuntu 7.10 to try it outand really like what i seen so far great system and very stable keep a copy of MS XP and OS X in Vmware for certain apps but use linux as my main stay andd been smile ever since

Yes really appreciate S5 IS for the facts that you have mentioned. Its really an outstanding point and shoot! Since you have spoke about all the good things about it, I will try to bring some drawbacks in it.

a) The battery and memory card are inside very near. That a same cover comes for it. Which is annoying if we often remove the memory card.

b) The camera in the operation mode generates strange heat. May be a manufacture or design flaw! (Or not sure if its happening only on mine) :)

I bought a new Toshiba Laptop with Vista P. It needed 31 updates out of the box. That is so lame. A program not ready for the market. All of us are testers in Microsofts world. They should release a CD. Because there will be so many more downloads before it is ready. Every day it downloads something new. Computer is always busy.

Did you check the firmware of the SCSI card, to make sure it’s up to date? Also, make sure your motherboard drivers are up to date. That’s a good place to start.

And finally, I saw a computer which “ate” CD ROM drives, which ended up being a badly wired power outlet at the wall. Make sure the power coming from your wall outlet is clean. The aforementioned computer I worked on had a hot neutral, which was the case of all the problems. Sounds weird? Yes, but it happened.

Vista Home Basic on an Athlon 2600 2.1 Ghz, 1gig ram,Asus A7NXE-Deluxe MoBo,Adaptec AHA-2940Au SCSI controller and a Toshiba SDM-1401 DVD-ROM derive.
The SCSI DVD drive ejects randomly occasionally producing a “DDE error”..I don’t have the exact verbiage of the error at this time but will write it down the next time it occurs. This doesn’t seem to cause problems with the system but is annoying. Any suggestions?
