A Small Uproar

Looks as if my recent post about Windows Vista caused a bit of an uproar.  Look folks, I am not dissing Windows Vista here.  I am merely wondering why the hardware requirements are so demanding.

And I know I am going to regret this, but here goes:

What does the Aero interface get you (besides something the Linux and Apple folks have had for years) besides being forced to invest in the hardware required to run it?

Also, look at the amount of processes running on a fresh Vista build vs an XP build.

By the way, what’s the real reason why Microsoft won’t release DirectX 10 for Windows XP?  And, is this true?

Finally, I find this extremely interesting (*ahem*cough*ahem*).

Crouching down and covering my head in preparation of beatings I am sure to receive, I await your responses.

One Comment

I’m surprised you got any comments on that. Most of the responders I’ve seen are more than willing to admit Vista is a pig. For many it seems to be a guilty pleasure, or possibly a badge of courage.

If I had no ‘legacy’ hardware, I’d use the copy I was given by MS, but it doesn’t have drivers for stuff I need, and others here have related all manner of idiosyncratic behavior. I’ll probably install when SP1 arrives.

However, by then I might be totally in love with Suse or Ubuntu.

What Do You Think?
