Newegg problems?

  • No Related Post

I have shopped at newegg for a lot of electronics equipment, but recently my experience with the company has been nothing but bad. First, I ordered RAM for an old PC and it showed up a few days late, no problem it was right near Christmas. Next I ordered a BFG graphics card (which ended up not fitting in my case) that showed up probably 5 days late. Then just before I left for college I ordered an XFX low profile card and the bracket for the card. 2 days before the items are to be here I get a notice telling me the order has been canceled because:

“It was discovered that the quantities for one or more items reserved to fulfill this order were either found to be damaged, misplaced, or only partially available.”

I kind of figured companies should know about that kind of thing before they offer to sell it to you. The bracket cost 7 dollars, but because of my prior incidents with the company I was given the shipping for free. The cheapest  I can now find the bracket set is for 14 dollars on Ebay.

Hello,

I just bought a hard disk drive from NewEgg. It was initially out-of-stock, so I used the ‘notify’ option to email me when it became available. When it became available (about a week later) I placed the order and it arrived on time. That was just one purchase, though, and the last purchase I made with them was about a half-a-year prior.

There are definitely other places you can buy components, though, that have good pricing, such as MWave and ZipZoomFly. Perhaps one of those online stores will work better for you.

I order a ton of stuff from Newegg and haven’t had any problems. All of your issues seem to be shipping/inventory related, so perhaps it’s not an issue with the company as a whole so much as the logistics involved between your location and the warehouse (e.g. crappy delivery company, drunk warehouse workers, etc.). Have you paid any attention to where your items ship from? I live in Ohio and almost everything I order via Newegg is shipped out of New Jersey (and quickly, I might add).

I ordered some RAM from newegg on the recommendation of a friend. Good price and 3 day delivery. Couldn’t beat that could you? Well, maybe. Almost two weeks later, still haven’t received the RAM. Followed tracking from New Jersey to Kentucky to Pennsylvania where they finally just gave it to USPS. Go figure. Should have dropped it in the mail box to start with. It would have gotten to Ohio in a few days, not two weeks. But still not here. I think I’ll just go to a local store and spend a few more bucks, but at least I’ll leave the store with a product! On top of all this, they sent me an e-mail asking me to evaluate my purchase. Wrong thing to do. I was feeling pretty disgusted and FLAMED my response. Sorry about that. Thanks for reading my rant. Regards, Charlie

I have an openbox experience that has nothing to do with logistics.

When you order an open box item your expecting there maybe an piece or two of the kit is missing. NewEgg sent me a motherboard packed in a generic protective bag and a generic box of the manufactures. The kit is entirely stripped from the package. There is no manual, CD, cables, back panel or mounting hardware. NewEgg claims the OPEN-BOX items are sold at “sold at greatly reduced prices”. The missing kit is worth more than the discount.

NewEgg doesn’t make any bold attempt to warn their customers that the items are stripped. The motherboard was shipped to me with no kit on purspose. The warning of this is in the last paragraph of their OPEN-Box Policy. I glanced over the policy and missed this fact that NewEgg actually defaces the OPEN-Box items by stripping the kit.
