iTunes Feud Has Gone Too Far

First we had to deal with NBC pulling to shows on there network from the iTunes store. Then we had them potentially going to Amazon to offer shows on their site. Now we have the terrible NBC Direct (which is another blog post in itself). So today the word comes down from NBC that other shows won’t be on the iTunes store. The biggest one: House. Yes, the grumpy, anti-social doc from Jersey is being pulled from the store due to the fact that that NBC/Universal produces the show. This is terrible for all those mac users out there that have House on their Pods, and for Windows users too. I had the season pass for the last two seasons and was so looking forward to some iPhone house, but alas it won’t happen. NBC direct currently doesn’t have to program on its service and probably won’t due to that fact that they only show shows from NBC, but subsidiaries.
This may not be a problem for a lot of people, mainly due to the increase in DVRs in the market, but it really messes me up. I don’t have a DVR in college, and I don’t think there is money in the budget (in fact I know this isn’t) to buy a TiVo. So to solve this problem I have been relying on iTunes, NBC Direct, and ABC videos on AOL for all the shows I have missed. So with out House I better hope to be in the dorm to watch it, or hope that NBC realizes that there business model is terrible.

Agreed that NBC is missing the boat (and the point) here. They should have hammered out an agreement with Apple, and instead have made their viewers/customers angry and dismayed. And that’s a PR disaster on their part.
