Life of an Ageing Computer: Part 1

I got booted up today. My massive 866 mhz processor and 512 mb RAM was to be used and abused again today.
First up on the agenda was plugging in my “new” mouse I stole from a friend. I was finally getting an upgrade for the first time in years… I was finally on par with the rest of the world… I finally had a laser mouse. A $10 one… with wires. *sigh*
Next up was syncing with the iPod via my primitive USB 1.0 ports. After taking an hour or so to transfer all the songs, it was time to play World of Warcraft.
Since Blair had just bought the game, it was installation time first. After crashing three times in mid installation, I finally had a shiny new game installed on me. Then, once I had worked hard on downloading the latest patches, I started to feel sick. my life was flashing before my eyes… and then… the dreaded BSoD. After being rebooted, the worst of the worst happened:
“SYSTEM BOOT FAILURE.”
Ohhhh, shit.
After laying low for half an hour, I was complete again. Everything was working, and working well. After Blair created his first character in WoW, he finished the starting missions and ventured into Stormwind. Lagging badly, I crashed. Game over for the day.
